rotors: aluminum hat vs solid (M240i)
Search only found one other thread with only one response, so I thought I'd ask the question again.
Anyone changed from the lighter aluminum center OEM style to a solid rotor? How much did it change the feel of the car? BMW chose the aluminum riveted style for a reason. Looking for various opinions and uses. Personal need is street/ canyon, however I would like to get feed back from others using the car more aggressively as to how the dynamics change as things are ramped up. Some (most) of the online reviews of the 2 series state that the smaller 4cyl in the 228/230 makes that car handle better (or feel like it anyway). So how much does adding unsprung weight to each wheel affect this particular car. The reply on the other thread was of the opinion that you cant tell on the street. Thanks all. |

I found mine to be quite sensitive to added unsprung weight. I went from base brakes to the BBK, quite noticeable; lighter wheels neutralized this. I'd say you'd notice anything more than a pound or two difference. Either of the blue Brembo setups are more than adequate for any street driving.

can anyone do their job?
OK, so I ordered my brakes the end of Feb to get the sale price. Tried to verify 3x that the rotors would weigh the same as stock. Long story short, they're about 2.5 lbs heavier each in the front, company will RMA them, but it's another week shipping and then processing time for my refund. Really thinking I should send them back.... any other opinions other than above???
Thanks everyone.... |

What rotors specifically did you order that are 2.5lbs heavier than stock?
