N20 228i injen intake review

First off I want to thank Christine over at Evolution Racewerks for hooking me up every time the mod bug hits. I called her up and told her I needed and intake for my 228i and she said she had an Injen intake in stock and ready for pickup. I picked it up right away and brought it back to Mckenna BMW to get it installed. Installation went really smooth, everything clamps on and bolts up directly.

First impressions... I noticed the intake noise was a lot more noticeable, blow off noise sounds awesome too! However, power didn't really seem to have increased. After driving it around for about 50-60 miles I started noticing that the car had a quicker throttle response and over all the car felt slightly quicker too. Muffler delete back fire is a lot more noticeable now with the intake.

Overall I'm really happy with the quality, fit, sound and power increase of the injen intake. Would recommend it to anyone looking to purchase an intake for their n20.

Looks cool! That shield and filter positioning might give it cooler air than the intakes I've seen for the M235i. At least one would hope so.

It is a turbo car, don't matter if it gives you cooler air as it will goes through the intercooler.
That's where the air will be cooled to the point where it don't matter whether it was warm or hot.

Not quite true. Compressing the air in the turbo raises the temperature by a percentage based on the compression, and the intercooler cools it a percentage depending on it's efficiency and the outside air cooling the intercooler. Therefore the cooler the air is input to the turbo, the cooler it will be at all stages through the system.

Sooo, would this mean most 328i performance upgrades should work? Just asking because it doesn't seem like there is too many parts for a car that has been on the market for 2 years.

I actually just sold the Injen intake to a friend of mine with a 2014 328i and it fit perfectly. It too me at most 15 minutes to uninstall it from my 2 series and install it on his 3 series.

I was having some misfire issues due to mixing e85, race fuel and pump gas on a weekly basis (the misfire was in no way related to the intake). Had to put the stock intake back on for a couple days while the dealership took care of it. I have another Injen intake coming in soon in a custom powdercoated color to match my lime green brakes and chargepipe.
