Weird High Rev on a 6MT F23

Now that's its winter and we have snow on the ground, I've been driving on comfort mode where normally I would keep it on sport+. So today I needed to overtake someone fairly quickly and hit pedal to the metal, launching from second gear. The moment I hit 3500-4000RPM, and hit the clutch to go third gear the RPM shot up to 5000RPM on the shift to third. I never had that happen on Sport or Sport+. I was on comfort mode.

I tried it again and it did it again, and I switched out to Sport+ and the RPM didn't shoot up when I gunned it.

Is this normal? and why does this happen on comfort mode?

I feel like the delayed throttle in comfort may be carrying some residual through your clutch input, causing it to overrev?
