Just run Performance Friction-08 pads and be done with it. My last HPDE at Virginia International Raceway my instructor had me wait until the 200 marker before slamming on the brakes (at 120mph) for turn 13. Turn 13 is a left hand, decreasing radius, off-camber, downhill turn. These pads with stock calipers (fresh RBF600 fluid, natch) never faded. Never! We’d do lap after lap push the car as hard as I could (105mph through the uphill switchbacks!) and the brakes were flawless.

What was the maximum temperature your rotors, pads, and/or calipers reached during that event?

PFC-08's for the win! I'll be running them on the GT BBK's this season. I still want to get some air onto the rotors if possible. May end up being a home depot special but better than nothing I suppose.

Great questions. I have no idea. All I know I was braking extremely hard for turns 1, 10, 11 and 13 and the brakes were flawless.

I came across this thread on the M2 forum, discusses Porsche 'wings' and several home-made vent systems that looked interesting. https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1366784

For now I'm just cooling mine with the tears I shed at having the first HPDE cancelled.

I'm questioning whether increased air flow to the rotor center hub area actually causes turbulence and minimizes hot air drawn out through the outer vents. But, I haven't read the above closely enough to be certain.
Here you go – the professionals at Essex Parts have finally focused exclusively on the issue, explaining it better than I ever could:

Thanks to Maynard for drawing my attention to this piece; it should be of interest and value to regular/serious 2 Series track drivers.

Well...you would have if they had any brake kits that fit our cars, right?

I'm a past customer (my old race car is still the example they use for their E36 race kit), and I tried for a couple of years to get them interested but, finally, my email entreaties stopped being responded to.

I made it clear that I was more than willing to drive my car down there for them to do the measurements, fitting, and testing. I've assumed and am pretty sure that our market is simply too small (tiny?) for them to want to engage with it.

Solution: buy an M2!
