I currently have NBT EVO hu w/ ID5 on my 2017 M240i. Sadly, I don't have CarPlay, but I have installed the WiFi antenna necessary to retrofit it. I have also learned that for full-screen enabling of CarPlay you need software version starting in "N" or "O," and I am currently fitted with "M" version (M17345I). Called the dealership and they wanted to charge me an exorbitant fee ($350) just to update the software. I was looking into BimmerTech, but don't want to pay $199 for the software update and then another $399 for CarPlay. Any realiable coders our there that have experience with this and can do this (significantly) cheaper? 😂 Would appreciate any and all advice. Thanks!

You end up figuring it out? I have the same year car!

Also where did you get the wifi antenna and how long/difficult was the install?

Install for the WiFi antenna was CAKE. Pop off the trim of the two air vents just below the main display screen, then there are 2 or 3 T10 torx screws to remove the headunit. WiFi antenna just plugs directly into the open port on the back.

Definitely use steve@codemybimmer for your coding. Absolutely the best. Pricing was competitive, and the customer service is simply unmatched.

Sweet thanks! How is the frame rate and fluidity of CarPlay? Any bugs/lag?

It is 100% OEM. Zero lag/bugs/issues. Works flawlessly.

Curious the same questions and rates you paid? Any chance you try taking this up with BMW to handle too?

I also just purchased a pre-owned 2017 M240i (July 2016 production date ive since deduced)

Looks like software version is NBTevo_H16205i

I take it I need the software update, the wifi antenna (which is cheap/easy part), then either the bimmertech carplay for $399 or talk to Steve@codemybimmer for that part?

Thanks for the help!
