50k Warranty Concern

Hello all, I'm considering purchasing a non-CPO 2016 m235i with only 4,300 mi from Carmax. An actual CPO m235i with the specs that I want hasn't come through a local BMW dealership in months and I don't want to wait any longer.

My question is, though the maintenance plan won't transfer to me as the 2nd owner, the remainder of the factory 50k warranty will...in your experience, does the 50k reasonably cover repairs?

BMW's info says that the warranty only covers defects etc.., but as I understand it from speaking with dealerships, it actually is more of a repair warranty that does in fact cover most non-maintenance related repairs. I'm considering purchasing Carmax's repair warranty, which I won't do if I don't have to.

Thanks

The regular factory 50k warranty should cover anything that breaks prematurely. I would take it in for an oil change or do it yourself if you purchase it. Do it a favor and let them know to NOT wash your car as well.

Because they will create a world of swirls in the clear coat. I have spent countless hours correcting the damage the dealership has done to my paint Finish. That's even after I told them to only vacuum numerous times.

Thanks
I think most modern BMW's(and all cars) require more repairs post warranty than during the warranty period. I think this is especially true if if you use the BMW maintenance intervals.
You have 3 years and 46K miles left on the warranty so you might end up like most owners and have the warranty expire on time rather on miles. More maintenance and an extended warranty might be good ideas.

Not a question you asked but you may be curious about, if you decide you want to keep the car you can pay your dealer to CPO it for you either to 75K or 100K as long as the original warranty has not expired.

Thanks guys. My apprehension stems from a 2007 335i that I owned some time ago. It was in the shop almost monthly because of failed parts, bad sensors, and computer warnings. At the time I had both the warranty and maintenance plan, so I paid nothing out of pocket. I'm sure the engine has come a long way since then.

Carmax also offers a pretty decent extended warranty if you are worried.
