Best California Legal Downpipe?

Hello!

I am in the market for a downpipe for my 2016 M235i. I obviously want to go catless, but I am worried about passing smog in California. Does anyone have a suggestion on options?

I am also planning on moving to Boston this upcoming summer. I do not know the laws and regulations there so I am not sure if I can go catless there, so if anyone is in the Boston area and has input there too, that would be great!

Thanks for your help!

you will not get any shop to install a catless DP in California. big no no and fines are huge with California air resources board. I presume Boston is much the same

The best legal downpipe is the OEM one because literally nothing else is legal since nothing else will pass visual.

End of thread.

even a high flow catted downpipe wont pass here? I just moved back so I'm not sure anymore

A high flow cat will still fail the visual inspection. I'm sure people sneak things like the HJS Euro 6 downpipe through because it looks damn near OEM, but no guarantees obviously.
