Is this common practice?

Finally got confirmation that my 2021 M240i is waiting to be assigned to a container ship. For fun I goggled the vin # of my car. To my surprise it showed up as a vehicle available for sale in the dealer that I ordered the car from. Is this a common practice for dealers to list a customer's ordered car for sale just to cover its six in case the buyer backs out? Am I reading too much into this?

I have never order a car before so I really don't know what to expect.

Try looking into the dealer website where you purchased your vehicle and see if any of the cars matches your vin number.

Happened to me too, no they will not sell your car. Just the way the automated system works, the car is allocated to the dealer so it shows up on the dealers site.

It happened to me with an Audi. Nothing to worry about, it’s still your car.
