Ecs Ss Brake Lines
Easy to install -- Not sure they are worth the upgrade or even as good as the cheaper STOP-Tech SS LINES. Everything fit well and on 1st test drive everything felt nice an firm mainly due to the new fluid (ATE TYP 200).
. . . With all the air in the lines I did have to fill the Motive Bower bleeder vs just using air pressure. |

STOP-TECH , BimmerWorld & ECS : I went with ECS simply based on their EXACT FIT claim. . My research turned up fitment issues as the main problem areas when converting to SS Lines. The additional heat sleeve in the BW SS LINES is nice but since I am not tracking the car ~ don't think I will heat them up that much. . Actually the ECS & BW SS Hoses look almost identical to each other - except RED vs Blue coating. . . I made the change mostly out of curiosity more than anything else. Also, being an airplane / rocket builder ~ SS is the standard, so I just had to have them. Cheers, |

No Change ~ Really ~
I am thinking at the track under high heat/ heavy braking there is a difference but I don't think I could really tell. It felt better but I just put in all new fluid.
. I am all in on regular fluid changes every year or two. . SS Hoses -- they look cool -- |

If you are tracking or driving hard, this should be a definite upgrade along with EBC yellow or equivalent pads, ATE racing fluid or equivalent (motul), and if you want too, swap rotors for the Mperformance dimpled (exact fit, look on realoem.com for part numbers).
The difference is about 30% better braking, less fade, boil over for roughly $1k all in.

I bought the Stop Tech version and will put them on in the Spring when I do a fluid change. I bought them for the cool look as much as for the pedal feel because that is very good from the factory.

So far what I found was: Racepad: Pagid RS29 PFC08 Porterfield R4 Street: Porterfield R4-S Stoptech sport is the EBC Yellow something in the middle between race and street? The stock pads are not so bad and didn't feel much fading, but I'm looking for something that will be able to handle higher temps in case in need more braking Ideally I'm looking for something that I could run half the year so I don't have to be swapping pads for each event (usually 4-5 / year)... I don't think it would be a good idea to run the RS29 or PFC on the street right ? EBC yellow looks like a good alternative that you can also run on the street... else I might just go with the Stop tech sport that seems to be a little bit better than the OEM pads at least... Thanks for any help |

Honestly, i think the yellow is a perfect street pad. It's designed for some track, but really more of an autoX pad than HPDE's.
Do you have a part number for the stoptech sports? I might as well give them a go for the track day i have coming up. So i just bought the Hawk HP Plus and Castrol SRF fluid. Let's see how the uber expensive fluid works out, and if these pads are any good.

Have you tried the stock pads on the track? I would think the Yellow stuff should be an improvement so was thinking of ordering those but you screwed up my weekend now when you said "not that good on track at all" ... found front for $137 and rear $97 but now you are making me doubt.... You sure it was the pads and not the fluid? what fluid were you using when the yellow stuff was fading? BTW sorry for the thread hijack |

ATE 200 blue. new flush. super hot day.
I did use stock on track, and they were similar to the yellows, but at a lower speed. Figure stock avg speed 80, yellow avg speed 100. I have used 2 pairs of yellows for about 6 days, they still fade after 10 mins. Damm, ur right on the pads... now i guess ill get the pagids or something else.

i believe this is the order in terms of performance so was thinking of trying yellow stuff stock < stop tech sport ($93 F - $55 R) < yellow stuff ($137 F - $97 R) I really didn't want to go Pagid RS-29 cause I don't want to switch after each event back to stock.... also they are $580 looks like the only other race option are the PFC08 |

i'm in same boat as you... I don't want to bleed brakes and swap pads and rotors every other week.
A m235R PWC driver was talking to me about fluids and pads, and said Motul 660 is fine, and EBC are horrible and probably should be running dedicated track pads: Pagids DTC-60 carbotech xp## Lets start a new thread with all the pads we can find, than figure it out.

Ate Typ 200 Vs Sl6 Vs Rf
So I was hesitant to use the ATE TYP 200 based on the Low Viscosity requirements of the ABS etc.
. Your thoughts on the ATE SL6. I have used ATE TYP 200 as my standard in my previous E90 without issue. . I would think the lack of SRF would almost be a handicap on the track or even scary if the fluid started to boil . |

I've used the ATE Super Blue and Hawk HP Plus combo on the Track pack Mustang I had and it held up flawlessly on Hockenheimring. The first time I went I was stock Brembo and the second time I could really tell the difference. Later braking and no fade at all. They are really noisy on the street though. I felt way safer cruising the autobahn at triple digit speeds as well. Having to mash the brakes to avoid a slow car that pulled into the left lane at 140mph is an exciting event with stock brakes. After I felt like my eyeballs were gonna hit the windshield.
