Alarm going off randomly
Over the last two days, my 2016 M235 with the original battery (yes, 7.5+ years old) has been setting off the alarm. Oddly, the alarm went off around 830am yesterday and again today around 845am. Interesting. When it happened the first time yesterday, I reset it and about 30 minutes later it came back on. I then put it on my trickle charger and which indicated that the battery was low. This isn't surprising has I only drive the car once a week or so for the last 3 months and should have done a better job putting it on the charger. After charging, I tested the battery at it showed around 12.3 V and when the car is running, my Torque App is showing 14.1-14.3 V. This morning, the alarm went off and I immediately tested the battery and it showed 12.28 V.
The car starts and drives fine every time. I don't get a low battery warning. I have inspected the car thoroughly for rodent damage and there's nothing plus the car isn't throwing other codes or otherwise acting wonky. I've researched this issue and it doesn't seem very uncommon to the F series cars. Most threads say it's likely the battery but damn OPs never follow-up with the fix. I will change the battery as it's obviously due, but was curious if others have experienced this issue and if replacing the battery was the fix or was something more expensive and annoying.
