Square Setup
Hi guys,
Wanting to mount 245/35/18's all around for maximum grip. I have seen a few threads with concerns about Xdrive.. Does it take up more space up front? I would probably go for a 18X8.5 wheel with 40 offset.. Should this clear the suspension and fender? Probably going to get MPS 4S tires. Thank you. |

Yeah, I've seen some square setups without rubbing, but none seem to be XDrive.. Not sure if anybody knows if it takes up additional space or not, but that would be very helpful
Thanks |

I'm on xDrive and am running 235/40/18 on APEX EC-7 18x8.5 ET45 square with a 5mm spacer in the front. If you want to do 245/35, you would have to dial in some slight negative camber accompanied with the spacer (assuming you use the same specs as I have). You should contact APEX race parts for fitment advice, as they would be able to get you exactly what you want.
EDIT: I'm also using MP4S. -Ryan

I'm running 245/35R18 MPS4s on 18X8 et43 wheels and no spacers. No issues with clearance whatsoever. The xdrive is no different than the RWD in terms of fender and suspension wheel and tire clearances.
A 8.5" rim is not necessary to run 245/35R18s and most 8.5" rims for these cars have crappy offsets which then force you to run spacers and/or stretch or run narrower front tires. https://www.2addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1597122

Yeah, I've seen your setup and have been using it as a benchmark. Most people go with 8.5" rim, but 8" should be fine with a 245. My main concern was XDrive. Thanks for the info . Now to make a choice on some 18X8 et40-43's.... |

17x8 et40 is what most people run for 245 square setup. No modification required and has more tire options. I am xdrive and using this, but I am search to move up to 255 square with camber.

If you're dialing in camber, you can also use 9" if you want more support for a 245. Apex directed me to either 235/40 or 255/35 for the 18x9. I think the slight sidewall stretch on a 235/40 with 9" rim would buy you a bit of clearance back so you don't need much more than -2.0*. It's how I set up my street wheel set, just haven't run them, yet. Cup2 up front in 235/40 and PSS in the rear, 255/35, you can see they fit very similar, just the 255 has about a half inch wider contact patch. Most fear the 9" square setup, but I'm actually thinking about 265's on 9.5" wheels next time around.

The 8.5 wheel with the 245 will likely require some modifications like adjusting the camber. I didn't want to do that. |

Ended up going with 18 X 8 et 40 Fast FC04 wheels with MPS4S 245/35/18.
They fit really well, no rubbing yet. I have not driven hard though, tires still need to break in. Might drop it a little with Dinan springs or something. View post on imgur.com |
