New thread about the wheel problem
I feel bad for hijacking newusername's thread and have a few more questions from all of the knowledgeable and helpful people on this board.
Since I'm not sure I want to spend the money on OEM wheels even if I could find them, not sure where I'd go to have the wheels fixed so been looking at aftermarket. Can anybody give me an opinion on some of these wheels please? https://www.ecstuning.com/b-alzor-pa...-four/030-1kt/ maybe in black https://www.tirerack.com/wheels/brand.jsp?brand=ANDROS One of these? Any other suggestions will be well appreciated and thanks in advance. |

Tire Rack is a completely reliable source and they do test fitting in advance. I've bought several sets of wheels from them with perfect results. I got my BBS wheels from them. In this case, for some reason, I cannot see the specifications for ANDROS, a new name to me. I would look for pressure cast and avoid gravity cast wheels. They can advise you over the phone, or check additional brands they carry.

Agree on tire rack, but not commenting on style. that is a personnel preference and get what you think looks best to you.

Thanks and found these BBS on tirerack's site.
https://www.tirerack.com/wheels/brand.jsp?brand=BBS I kind of like the SX down towards the bottom. Not sure which color I like best. Would the stock TPMS work with aftermarket wheels? |

Agree with Sportstick and Taz about TireRack.
I run (summer set up) 19" BBS CH-R black with polished lip/bash guard on my 17 m240i Estoril Blue. Stock TPSM will work. |

The BBS SR are below. BTW, these are 17s over MSport brakes (originally blue calipers):

I have those ECS Alzor wheels and I am very happy with them. They are even better when they go on sale. Of course I went with the brushed black ones.

Thanks for the suggestions and pics and the Alzor wheels are decent looking, on sale, and definitely a good price compared to a lot of them.
Since it turned off so nice today for the Midwest and January, the wife and I took off on a nice drive around the lake and would have really enjoyed except for the vibrations on the car and then getting home and the trunk wouldn't open. WTH? Now I have to figure out how to crawl thru the back seat to find the release. Fob, rear button, or cab release does anything but make a weird noise and doesn't open. Think the car has demons or something. |

Hopefully, another member will ring in here with how to deal with the situation or with a link to one (or more) of the threads.

@Nortonman People probably get tired of me saying this, but bear in mind that fitting wider tyres makes the car more prone to aquaplaning, all other things being equal. This might not be an issue in dry locations, but if you get a lot of winter rain it's worth being aware of, unless you have a separate set of winter wheels and tyres. i.e. there's a balance between the ideal for dry summer (wider) vs wet winter (narrower).

I tried reading some older threads on the trunk problem but couldn't find any definitive answers.
Owners manual tells you to activate the release cable in the trunk. To get to this you need to go thru the backseat but the release for the backseat is in the trunk. Am I missing something here? |

Yes I checked the valet switch and tried the button in the cab. Nothing seems to work but thanks.
When I hit the unlock button on the fob, it sounds like the trunk is opening but it's not. I have it set that way thru the vehicle settings but only the doors unlock even tho the tailgate should. |

This was a huge pain in the ass. It is cramped, you can't see anything, and when it happened to me it was 110 degrees outside and I had just returned from the store with a trunk full of meat for a party. |

We have seen complains from several new owners about vibrations in the car. Please check to make sure you don't have the Lane Departure system engaged as it will shake the steering wheel pretty good if it detects you are departing your lane. This has caught several new owners off guard.

Thanks for the tip jzeiler4 but don't think my car has that or at least I've never saw that button anywhere.
And also thanks for the link about the wheels dradernh, looks like a good buy and you guys have been so helpful and kind, really appreciate it. BTW, noticed today on the screen a message came up that said my tailgate was open...go figure. Is insult to injury or what? lol Last edited by Nortonman; 01-14-2022 at 01:25 PM.. |

That's common. I used to get it almost every time I got in the car. Apparently, the trunk unlock button on my key fob was getting pressed by other things in the pocket I carried it in. I moved the fob to another pocket and haven't had to get out and close the trunk since then.

I also found out that by pushing down hard on the trunk lid the open error message goes away if that means anything. Sounds like to me it's just not releasing.
