Intakes causing codes

What's the work around to get these "air mass too high" codes to go away. I've tried 3 different intakes and they either cause drivability issues or throw codes. The stock intake is flawless of course. Are there any tuners that can recalibrate that specific parameter or has somebody found a trick to get around that.

So far Injen, Ets, and Dinan have all caused problems.

Help me out.

If tuned there is no issue. The code setting is because more volume is experienced than expected. You are allowing more air in, it's simple. And honestly, unless more air is being let out (exhaust) it doesn't really matter. On other manufacturers, it was easy to swap out the maf sensor for higher volume and not have an issue, but you'd still have to tune it, so the engine knew how much air to expect... Lol

Best thing I've read is just get a better filter that is less restrictive for the stock airbox.

Good Luck!

She's tuned bm3 stage 2. All of them cause weird stumbles and surges. The Dinan is the least screwed up, it's mostly the light with hardly any stumbling but it's still not right. Probably just going to give up and throw the stock intake back on, I keep losing my ass buying intakes and then selling them off after their used.

I have been for years, I just get bored and try a different intake hoping somebody has made one that doesn't screw things up.

Garage List
I had the same issue, BM and K&N intakes both caused CEL and stumbles on cold starts.

Then I tried a drop-in filter and it's been running great ever since.

MPPK/M2 lower airbox and a drop-in filter, if you must. I've ran with and without a drop-in filter throughout the years with my M235. I prefer the driveability with the OEM paper filter. The M2/MPPK adds some induction noise and a drop-in like the AFe dry filter adds even more noise. I never had any codes thrown, stumbles, etc. running the M2/MPPK airbox with a drop-in filter.

Have you considered the fact that the TUNE may be the problem?

These boxes tunes... I really don't like. On CAR tuning and adjustment is what's best, just sayin! We forget that each engine can have slight nuances that require some massaging for perfection!

Have you detuned and run the filter?
Same issue?

The stumbling you're describing wouldn't make me happy at all. Have you recorded your engine with the tune and stumble? Try to see what going on? Because if it is stumbling, the data will tell what's happening. It (ECU/Tune) as I've noted can be seeing too much air (lean) and dumping fuel, it could be a faulty sensor, etc. But I don't think unrestricted air flow should cause the stumbles. Throw codes, sure, happens all the time. But stumbles says something else in my opinion. Just my opinion, lolz

Why do you want an intake so badly? They don't add power and as you've seen, many can cause driveability issues.

IMO, spend that money on suspension, wheels, tires, exterior, and interior improvements and other parts that can make real and noticeable positive changes to the car.

All that's done, she's all ready for the track. The intake would just make it "complete"

Have you tried AFE Momentum or Magnum Force? Haven't seen many issues on the forums for people running their dry filter.
