I have it.

Muffler delete.

It drones pretty bad from 2-3k rpm.

I had it in addition to Fabspeed's new midpipe to make their muffler bypass a full catback!

Sigh. Been hearing such mixed reviews about the drone. Some say it does, some say it doesn't : lol read your comment on that post, did you end up removing?

Also (for Brandon), did the midpipe increase drone?

I'm dealing with it right now.

Its just such a pain in the ass since its such a loud bass 2600 - 3200 rpm which you cant get around.

While driving you can shift before or after, and it dosent affect highway driving, but cold start and leaving the house in the morning i feel like a 18 year old in a evo or wrx... Other than that it does sound great.

Its roughly 83db loud which is pretty loud. I'll let you know if i get kicked off the track since they have a 84db limit.

But as far as everyone saying its the most perfect exhaust, blah blah... Youll see what i mean when you get it.

To the people saying it drones: do you have just the muffler bypass or other components higher up in the chain?

Haven't heard any complaints when the bypass is paired with their sport cat downpipe.

It can definitely make its presence known. Can you clarify with the forum if you have an aftermarket downpipe? Let us know if we can do anything for you.

We can craft turn down tips should you want a guaranteed smooth track day, our Porsche customers swear by them.

I'm running catted Wagner DP.

I'd give them a try if it's going to help.

Thanks @ Fabspeed.

I was about to start cutting it up and adding another resonator.

I just got my catless downpipe installed and it's amazing...definitely don't know if I'd want to add an exhaust on top of it

While it's a extremely well crafted piece, I can't justify the price point for what is essentially a muffler delete. Huge props to Fabspeed for their customer service though

I might try and something like this before the muffler delete to see if that kills the BASS noise.

The quality is superb. It fits like a glove. It should for the cost.

But this bass at low rpm's kill me.

Man, sorry to hear that. I'd imagine that a constant bass sound while cruising is annoying. I'm really interested in this bypass though, but the mixed reviews scare me off a bit.

i'll let you know if a resonator fixes the issue.

If you live in the country with no one around, you should be fine.
But living in a condo, my neighbors are about to lynch me.

The cold start is like a garbage truck mixed with a miami bass song. It only lasts 2 minutes, than quiets right down. It sounds much better fully warmed up.

Some may like that sort of thing. Than the cruising it comes back right around 3200 rpm.

But to be fair, at around 5000-6000 rpm it sounds glorious.
The popping and cracking is close to what my ftype sounded like. But it does get a bit excessive, it goes nuts just letting your foot off the gas or downshifting in sport and sport plus while leaving it D seems to not crackle as much.

Mike in Marketing here. I've heard all the possible Muffler Bypass variants you could experience, with all downpipes, and with our Secondary Catbypass Midpipe. Make no mistake, this is a LOUD system...after all it is a muffler delete. Our very thick .065" thick stainless steel helps keep the buzz down a bit but there's not much else our engineers can do to mute the volume. We're not going to sit here and say don't worry about it, just buy it, it's fine, we want everyone to be happy and meet realistic expectations that the community deserves and demands.

To get the best of both worlds...this is where a valved exhaust comes into play. Those are also on average around 2-3 times more expensive. The Muffler Bypass is a lower priced solution to get an incredible sound, but you will have to live with it at all times. Concerned about waking up your neighbors? Do you primarily drive on the highway? Consider our Valvetronic Exhaust. Don't have an aftermarket downpipe yet? That might be a good place to start as that's a hot ticket to extra power, faster spool, more burbles, and you can retain the civility (for now). Have any special requests like turn down tips, resonators, wrap, or anything really? If you're able to stop by we can custom tailor the exhaust to your needs. If you're local to us, stop by for a ride along with Bobby in his Sport Cat Downpipe / Muffler Bypass setup M235i.

We have customers, Bobby included, that absolutely love the sound and accept any droning at times as well as the loud startup. It comes down to your level of tolerance for a loud exhaust when you don't want the loud exhaust. What would I do? I'd 100% run a catless downpipe and Muffler Bypass Exhaust and just throw some extra sound deadening in the trunk. I'm in love with the sounds the N55 makes and I'd endure its yell at all times with a smile on my face.

-Mike

Very honest response and I'm definitely one of those who can deal with it being loud at cold start because it's just that good at all other times. No regrets with my purchase, I honestly haven't noticed much drone highway driving but maybe it's just me?

Fabspeed Motorsport Would you say that the valvetronic system with the valve open is just as loud as the muffler bypass system? It'd be dope if you guys could post some decibel numbers for each system.

I would say that the Muffler Bypass with a stock downpipe is slightly louder than the Valvetronic with the valves on, also with a stock downpipe.
