Added a M2 CS Spoiler

Hi all,

My M240i build is coming along now, only cosmetic things I have left to do on the exterior is wheel spacers (12/15 being done tomorrow) and a M Perf style rear diffuser, will do when I replace the exhaust. Anyway...

Decided the standard spoiler wasn't scratching that itch for me anymore so I found a black ABS copy of the M2 CS spoiler on eBay and took a chance.

Personally, I think it really sets off the aggression on the backend.

Added some before and after photos, let me know what you think:

slinkyjynx, thanks so much for the pictures! I have a M2CS rear spoiler sitting in the next room just waiting for some 3M tape (should arrive in the next few days) to arrive before installing. Seeing your car helps a ton.

Looks great!

Thanks slinkyjynx for the awesome reference photos here- very well timed, as I got off my ass and also installed the CS spoiler on the M240i! Got the part from getbmwparts.com a little over a month ago.

I found new respect for 3M tape and how insanely hard it is to get that tape off any surface.

Well worth the effort!

Sorry for the late reply! I don't have pictures to document, but the process went through the following steps:

1. wiped down the bottom of the CS spoiler, then attached 3M tape (the vehicle strips, as the part did not come with any)
2. used fishing line to saw through the adhesive on the stock spoiler on the trunk. i don't own a heating gun, but room temperature in an underground parking garage gave me zero issues.
3. used goo-gone on the leftover adhesive. i think this is where the heat gun may have saved some time.
4. wiped down the trunk surface, then lined up the CS spoiler (it's not quite a 1:1 fit, as the CS curves in a lot more).
5. "fix" the spoiler with painter's tape. based on the extreme curvature of the spoiler it was less of a "lift slightly then put back down" but served as a rough guideline.
6. prep the trunk surface with 3M adhesion promoter.
7. (USE A BUDDY FOR THIS) line up and place the spoiler. i used a method i saw on youtube where you cut a pull-tab on the 3M tape, then pull from the middle, instead of pulling the entire length of the non-adhesive side. it allowed for a slower process and potential error correction, as less of the tape is stuck on the trunk.

I think i went a bit too slow as i felt this would be my first and last opportunity to get this right, and it came out okay in the end.
