Wheel Color

Hi all,

Hit something and need to replace on wheel. Of course, the dealership will not give me any information.

I know there are two colors available for this wheel. Does anyone know what color this is?

thanks

there is a light charcoal and dark charcoal, as to which one that is, I am not sure. Have you tried a VIN search? I’m surprised the stealership won’t help you out.

Hi,

The VIN does not show which color, just the style.

There's a but of confusion because these wheels have colour code stamps cast into the back of the wheel. That's great except there's two colours they're available in. Orbit Grey and Ferric Grey.

Just an educated guess that those are Ferric and Orbit is the darker. I have the same ones.

I have orbit grey and those look a little lighter than mine, but try washing all the brake dust off; you might have a light silver wheel under there! My orbit grey wheels appear black 2 days after a wash.

Those are ferric grey. I have purchased touch paint from this company that is an exact match color code B55. This link should take you there:

https://quiktouch.com/eng/search_res...l=M235&key=B55

The other color is Orbit and here is a link to an exact match for that color:

https://quiktouch.com/eng/search_res...el=Bmw&key=B35

Enjoy the fantastic results!

Good, I had a wheel that was far worse than that and had it repaired for about the same amount, it's been perfect ever since, I was about to recommend that.

I purchased wheels from auto rim shop for my old G37. They had to ship one from a different warehouse and it was a different color. they shipped me one that matched later but after about 6 months the paint started peeling.

I purchased 2 rear BMW style 461 wheels from American Factory wheels and they did a great job matching my other wheels which were Ferric grey and the finish has held up great so far.

remove wheel, look at text cast into back of wheel to verify, it is likely orbit gray

Look for a local wheel straightener. $120-150.

The backs of my sets of Ferric Grey and Orbit Grey wheels each have raised text saying both "Ferric Grey" and "Orbit Grey", so that might not work.

I happened to be looking at the back of my wheels yesterday to verify the wheel size and noticed that mine have the same raised text with both colors!

My car came with the staggered setup and I was curious if the wheels were the same size. They are not (7.5" wheels up front and 8" wheels in the rear).

I was wondering the exact same thing. I assume mine are Ferric gray since they are lighter than the car (Mineral Gray), but the backs of the wheels list both color names and both part numbers. Does anyone know how to tell for sure? For what it's worth, it's a square set of 18x7.5 et45.

Your photo shows what look like Ferric Grey wheels. The difference is quite noticeable.

Orbit Grey

Ferric Grey (the front wheel is the more accurate representation of the color)

Thanks for confirming. You're right, Orbit Grey looks quite a bit darker. Both are nice colors, although I don't think Orbit would look right on a Mineral Grey car.

The Ferric Grey wheel colour is very close to the standard mirror cap colour for M235is and earlier M240is, whereas Orbit Grey is quite a bit darker.
