IAT question

Hey guys so i'm monitoring my IATs on my car and was wondering if i should read them in Fahrenheit or Celsius? And what are acceptable numbers of both?

Thank you so much for your help!

You're from 'Murica so we read them in F.

It's not a set value as lots of factors are in play including ambient temp and how much boost you are pushing

This. What are your current ambient? With a good intercooler, you should be as close to ambient as possible- usually 10-15F above ambient after a pull.

A good to decent intercooler will drop temps initially during the pull, have you tried logging?

I would not worry too much about IAT before a pull. If you are not pushing the car, you are not looking for added performance so why worry about IAT

Here is a comparison of the Wagner cores, notice that EVO II was 13 degrees over temp before the pull and 15 degrees over temp after the pull

Only when upgrading to the massive EVO III is when temps were similar to ambient before and after the pull

Not a great result but still an upgrade over the stock intercooler.

For an accurate check on how much power you can gain from a better intercooler, you need to do a datalog and check your ignition timing drop.

I have an upgraded turbo and Dinan intercooler. I feel like the Dinan ic can't keep up but I don't know what would be an upgrade from there. Might have to look into wmi

You want a better intercooler than your Dinan, and the good news is there is plenty.

Check out the MAD 7" Race intercooler, BMS Race or the Wagner EVO III

Would it be worth it to change the ic or just go to wmi?

I’m a fan of the IC, you can still sell whatever you have on the car. WMI works well, but it’s expensive.

Just got the vrsf race intercooler. Absolutely gigantic but the quality is questionable. Should I return it?

Eh, it's fine. Those fins are super thin and there's a tool you can use to straighten them out but it's not really necessary.
