A good instructor makes a difference
I took my 2020 M2C to my second track day with this car at Club Motorsports in NH. This time, I had an instructor with me in the car and I have to say that made a huge difference in the day.
The first time I was at Club Motorsports was in June. Because I am a novice track driver I had asked for an instructor then, but there weren't enough for every driver so I didn't get one. I did get a session of lead-follow which showed me the proper line to drive. This past Saturday I had an instructor for every session. Having someone critique my driving while I am driving (instant feedback) is worth the price of admission. I wasn't timing my laps, but I could see my speed at every corner had increased by a large margin compared to my first time at the track. All that to say: If you can get instruction, do it. It is worth the price. |

FWIW, if you drive with a BMWCCA club an instructor will be included in the price.

Track days may seem expensive, but if you factor out what this kind of instruction costs when you have to pay market rates, they are actually a huge bargain. Especially those first few weekends, I learned more than I could have imagined. This included learning that the dealer really would replace a set of pads and rotors under the maintenance warranty despite them having been beaten far beyond reason - I was waiting for them to pull me into the service bay to show me that I'd triggered ABS about a hundred times after getting the 'drive carefully, fix soon' warning.
