OEM m240 shocks: fronts dented from mounting? or come that way new?

Car: 2017 M240ix

I'm playing with putting big tires on the front and paying attention to the front shocks and possible rubbing. Both my front shock bodies under the white sticker are kind of dented in from the top of the tire to the rim a few mm. I'm wondering if that is OEM or have idiots been banging the tire against my shock when they mount and dismount my wheels. Anybody else?

That is normal, likely to give clearance to cable-style low profile "chains" that BMW allows to be used on the stock 225/40-18 tyres.
