oil pan gasket

short and sweet, wanted to bounce something off y'all.

INDY shop quoted me $2,400 for an oil panda and gasket replacement....

BMW dealer quoted me $1,100. book price. car is at the INDY shop.

what in hell is going on with the pricing? also, I've seen posts on here about shops doing it for $500. how?

hah...wish me luck.

Get the dealer's offer in writing. Make sure that the service manager signs it. Make sure the SM tells you what else may need to be replaced to fix the oil pan gasket.

The engine support cross member has to be removed to replace the pan gasket. That means a bunch of stuff has to come off, also. The engine has to be supported while the cross member is out.
