Which shop lowered it for you? Southwest Bimmers here in Las Vegas wants $900 to install springs with an alignment. I don't mind coming down to So Cal to get the springs installed.
Precision Dynamics out in Costa Mesa. Quoted 2 hours, $250. No affiliation, first time going there but happy with how everything went I got a quote from someone initially telling me it would be 5 hours ($625) and there's no way to do it any faster and that the fronts by themselves would take 3 hours and the rears may be difficult. Obviously that wasn't true.. I'd shop around a bit more.

To note though, when I came to pickup my car they informed me that they didn't install the rear bump stops, only the fronts as "the rear struts didn't need to come out." They said it shouldn't effect anything and everything felt super solid so I haven't worried about it. I woulda rather had them in but whatever.

Edit** Their initial quote of $250 was for springs install without rear shock removal. I didn't mention the bumpstops when making the appointment as I didn't think it would require extra steps, so that's my bad, but I went back and they installed the Dinan rear bumpstops on the house and helped with a headlight leveling issue I was having. Would recommend

The "bump stops" on BMWs are not just bump stops, they add to the spring rate under spring compression and contribute to the overall handling balance of the car. They should always be properly matched with the springs and dampers. Under hard cornering the "bump stops" will be in contact with the damper cylinder long before the damper is fully compressed. They actually call them auxiliary shock absorbers, as opposed to bump stops.

Ordered oil thermostat housing, gasket, screws and o-rings from N55 for my N20 "oil heat exchanger" to "oil cooler" conversion.

Portland is probably similar in size to Las Vegas. There are less than 3 BMW tuner shops here in town that I can think of.

Southwest Bimmers wanted $900 with alignment
Eurotek wanted $1100+ with alignment
BMW Only also wanted somewhere around $1100+ with alignment

Southern California probably has the most tuners. European Auto Source in Anaheim, CA quoted me around $450 without an alignment.
I'm seriously considering kianf22's recommendation since it is half of what EAS quoted me.

Finally had a warm enough day for a top down drive in the country today. First one of the new year and I even managed to get out on both BMW bikes as well.

Aren't these ports waterproof?

Eh. Who knows. But coffee, soda, etc could still mess with the contacts inside. No easy way to clean. I won't use it often, but if I do, I'd like it to work.

I got quoted $750 from Performance Technic in Fremont, CA. They look like a very professional and high end BMW shop. The quote was for DINAN springs + bumps stops + alignment. Will be setting up an appointment sometime next week.

I added a microfiber steering wheel cover. Hand sanitizer will ruin leather very quickly. My kid's X1 wheel is destroyed by it. My 228ixCV has a cover and although it doesn't feel great it will be on for the duration.

Too close to the sidewall to plug, unfortunately.
(some might, but I wouldn’t in this case)

That is a very good price. You might want to give Simon and Orhan a call at European Werkstatt in Walnut Creek, those guys do amazing work for fair prices. They took care of all my BMW needs when I used to live in the Bay area.

Garage List
2017 BMW M240i  [0.00]
Had a run-in with a brief but damaging hailstorm last week while driving on the interstate. The entire event was over in about 7 minutes, but the damage was done. I found about 6 spots on my hood, 6 or 7 on the roof, and a couple on the rear deck. I found a local paintless dent repair shop and dropped by last week for an estimate. He used an LED light and I was shocked at how many dents actually showed up. Over a dozen on the hood, the same on the roof, back deck, fenders. He even showed me a couple of spots repaired before I bought my CPO.. spots that were rushed, to say the least. We negotiated a cash deal and I dropped it off this morning. I just got it back and WOW! I am very pleased with the results. He went over the whole car and also sorted out the previous stuff. It looks like new again, I can't find a bad spot anywhere on the car.

Turbo blanket is now installed. Did it to lower the temps under the hood; might consider an intake down the line.

Received the LCI LED tail lights, LED reverse light bulbs, and white LED blinker bulbs. Might install them later today.

I love hearing stories like this where something could be terrible but works out.

Changed the diff oil before the day's track activities. The diff whine got quieter, but still louder than the engine.
