Spare Jack Kit

Using one of my original tires/wheels for spare, and need a compact trunk jack. Looked on ECS, Ebay, Amazon and Bimmerworld and not finding model match.

Any one have a suggestion for F22 ? Like to have matching lug wrench with

Searched here but a couple links no longer work

ALSO - is it possible to use OEM wheel lock on 75mm studs ? Or too long ?

Cheers and thx

I got these 2 items:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The jack works fine.
I haven't used the lug wrench, because at home I use my torque wrench. So I can't provide feedback on that.

The BMW branded lug wrench is actually very nice and set to the proper torque. I don't have the part # but if you search you should be able to find it. There are quite a few threads on this topic. You also may want to get a longer breaker bar to keep in the trunk for stubborn bolts.

BTW I've also got an E46 mine is a ZHP but think they all came with the same spare kit. That scissor jack is horrible and dangerous don't use it.

The torque wrench part number is 71126769683. Handy little tool, that one is.

Thanks for the heads up on the BMW wheel bolt torque wrench. I think I'll get one of those.
I've used that jack in my daughter's ZHP. It's bizarre. I can't believe BMW made it and equipped the E46 with it from the factory.

Sweet, looks like ECS has one.

is there even a OEM 235i jack ? ECS, Bimmer, and even dealer sites dont seem to have one.

Not sure if it is truly OEM for the 2 series, but they do make a scissor jack with a top pad that fits into the frame holes. DK if you can buy separately, but it is part of the spare kit they sell, nested inside the space saver. This link is one example, from the nearby thread titled 'space saver' : https://modernspare.com/product/2013...-complete-kit/

The top pad on the scissor jack I got (link above) fits perfectly into the frame hole.

oh saw that and only saw the spare tire kit etc. I'm using an original wheel for spare, locally I'll do spray gunk "just in case". But they have just the 2'er jack kit

I'm using a jack that was originally in an E39 5 series.
P# 1 096 040. 1 aka 71121096040
ECS sells these new: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...k/71121096040/ You can buy them other places, like Turner, for similar prices.

I bought mine used for $50 off eBay.

As for the comments on these little jacks being sketchy, well, they ALL suck. The BMW ones at least have a block that fits into the jack point, stabilizing the top point. But these tiny spare jacks are all horrible no matter what brand of car. I would never use one if I had any other jack available.

I still need to source the cute little folding wheel chock that BMW had in some kits: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...k/71121507292/

That BMW torque wrench is cool. But I would rather have a longer breaker bar and socket. A bit more flexible.

And don't forget a decent tire plug kit and a compressor with some optional slime sealant.

Works great for quick flat change...would never get under lol, but with old full size tire/rim in trunk for longer trips...if goo doesnt work, this should...def. need mostly flat area though

Skip the torque wrench..honestly you’re overpaying and over thinking it.

Get either the $11 or $13 harbor fright breaker bar and literally whatever cheapest deep socket 17mm you can find.

This is a spare tire swap emergency kit. Whatever you do here is not a permanent install. If you’re throwing a spare tire on, it’s temporary. Tighten it down and your objective is to get to the next place that can swap/repair the tire and they will more than likely install it to correct torque specs after.

Also...the angle of that Bmw torque wrench is awful..

It depends. If you're touring around the West, for example, the next place you'd want fixing your problem may be some distance away. That's why you'd carry a full-size spare and the tools necessary to mount it. Then you're in a position to wait until you reach a shop qualified to mount a new tire on an 18" wheel. If you've chosen well, they won't run the nut/bolt beyond the 104 ft. lbs. called for by BMW.

I agree with you in theory. Best to have the ideal toolset and spare items. However, I dont see how accurate or reliable a torque wrench is that is used for removing anything...as most of the ones Ive ever owned specify to NOT use it to remove screws. Also...the angle of it doesnt inspire confidence for removing lug nuts...I see it stripping/rounding some for sure though.

I have a full sized spare for that same exact reason. Always have, and have never had an issue hand torqueing a tire with a breaker bar or with a traditional tire iron. It will get you far enough on that and Ive done it that way for YEARS without ever having an issue. Odds are the non-matched tires will do damage long before any "overtorquing" would in that situation. I also dont plan on cruising a thousand miles on my spare.

I hear you. Torque wrenches are not intended to be used for removing wheel bolts or stud nuts. Do people really do that?

Im willing to bet thats exactly how the torque wrench will be used in any customer's situation, as nobody explicitly warns you not to do so and our cars dont come with a tire iron.

Ideally you'd carry the torque wrench + a breaker bar and 17mm socket but thats two tools now...and still seems like overkill for the fact that its a temporary fix any way you look at it.
