I've been checking their site regularly with the hope that they will have released something at least.

I'm still waiting for my M-Sport 228i to arrive. For those that haven driven a few miles already with the stock exhaust, how does it sound now?
Does BMW have any plans on releasing the M-Performance Exhaust for the 228i as they did for the m235i? Thanks |

I can't comment on the BMW M-Perf exhaust but would love to hear an answer.

I have an email in to my dealer inquiring about the availability of the M-Perf exhaust for the 228i. I'll post if I hear anything.
About the stock exhaust, though... It does sound pretty nice if also pretty quiet. With the windows down it's pretty enjoyable. Nice low, but quiet, growl at sweet spot of rpm ranges. It's a decent harmony between the exhaust and diverter valve, but that lets you know how loud it is. It could almost be overpowered by the sound of the boost venting if you're not at full tilt. |

I haven't posted on Bimmperpost with my personal account in a long time but for those of you who know me, I manage the performance department at Mckenna BMW and from what I know of... we haven't gotten notice of any M performance exhaust for the 228i yet |

I've been looking at 3's and 1's with the muffler deletes and they sound great simply without them, probably just get that delete done and wait for a 220i/228i aftermarket or performance type exhaust later on |

My M235i rear diffuser arrived today so I'll be installing that along with my custom rear muffler delete. believe I'll be going with 3" burnt titanium tips, that should fill in the cut outs nicely.

Just got the car back from the exhaust shop. The muffler delete sounds awesome in person specially that little back fire. http://<div class="youtube-playerCon.../iframe></div>

Sounds fantastic!
I have one quick question, my car is a lease and I would like to be able to put the stock exhaust back on at the end of the term. Is yours welded on or does it uses gaskets like the OE and other aftermarket systems?

Good job. Cutting the stock muffler off in the same spot where the M Performance muffler is connected makes easier to reinstall the stock muffler. You don't even need to weld it back since the V-clamps could be used as well.

All I did was a muffler delete. Just make sure your exhaust guy cuts the muffler right where the exhaust piping meets the actual muffler so prevent cutting up your stock pipe. That is correct, all you'll need is the M performance 235i diffuser.

gonna do this next tuesday - super excited. was quoted 120-150 + tips. any special advice? guy on the phone was excited to see underneath a 2er for the first time, so just wanted to make sure there weren't any special instructions...
he also mentioned he'd be able to reinstall the factory muffler when i need to turn back in for my lease. |
