Hi,

I've been facing an issue with my Gran Tourer 220D Xdrive from 2015 (now with 140k km) with a noise that is driving me nuts (as well as my mechanic since he's also not being able to find the root cause of this noise).

Basically, I'm getting a kind of a "metallic whoosh" noise when accelerating, which is there between the 1500 and 2500 rpm. Above this rotation it kind of disappears and it doesn't happen when on neutral, no matter how much you rev up the engine. Only happens when the engine is on load.

The sound seems to come from the passenger side of the engine. It's not the turbo, not the intercooler, not the EGR, since all of them were replaced. The pipes and hoses were also inspected, as well as the DPF.
