Regarding JB+
Hey everyone I just recently picked up a JB+ and have had it for a solid week now. My first impression on it is very positive, I've felt a noticeable increase in power & torque however I'm experiencing a huge amount of turbo lag, and the ride doesn't seem to be as smooth. What I mean is the delivery of power doesn't seem to be consistent, but I feel its definitely faster than stock when I rev it out!
Sometimes I will get sudden jerks accelerating/braking in low gear & RPMs though. Is this normal? I left the JB+ on default at the 3pm position, but haven't tried lowering the boost yet. I currently have it off now and have been cruising with it all day, its smooth, and less turbo laggy, but I want that power increase. Is there a fix to this? Will the JB Stage 1 or JB4 provide a smoother experience? I have a 2015 228ix (N20), completely stock so far besides the JB+ and I only have access to 91 octane where I'm at. Anyone else experiencing the same issues, or have an idea how to mitigate the turbo lag & inconsistency without turning down the boost? |

The JB+ is just adding a constant demand for boost so at a higher setting it will be less smooth than stock.
I'd suggest decreasing the setting a little and seeing how that works for you. On my 2015 335xi I set it to half power, and I'm planning to do the same on my 230xi which I've got a JB+ for but waiting until after break in to put it on. |

Honestly I don't think so, I think you'd be spending money chasing something you can't get. It is just due how the tune works. The only other mod I've done besides JB+ on my cars is an AFE drop in dry filter or on my 335 I got the MPPK which there is no version of for the 4 cylinder cars.
Your best bet for smoothness and better power would be a real flash tune. Either at a performance shop or something like bootmod3, I know those guys swear by it. A JB4 or Dinan Elite would probably be a little smoother but if you're spending that much money I feel like it would just make sense to go with a flash tune, especially with bootmod3 so easily available, but a shop that knows what they are doing is even better.

It's inherently not going to be as smooth in acceleration than a DME tune. I have the Stage 1 and it's the same as you described. You learn how to drive it though, just takes some time. I've had mine for 27K miles now. If I drive in Comfort there is a slight hesitation that causes smoothness issues. I drive in Sport all the time and it there is more throttle sharpness and makes it smoother.
