M4 Convertible rhinoplasty available?
When it is time to replace my manual convertible M240 the only choice will be a convertible M4. While the profile is kind of OK in a Mustangy BMW way, the front is an abomination.
We see M2 aftermarket front bumpers for the F22, has someone come out with a less horrible replacement bumper for the M4? An F80 style aftermarket bumper would be great. This is predicted on BMW making the manual available for the convertible as well. I am posting it here because over on the M4 side there is pressure to pretend the front end is not that bad (it is) and that it doesn't ruin the car because it is fast (it still does). Yes I have seen it in person, and while it is less ugly, it is still very very ugly.

It shouldn't be too hard to park it so you don't have to look at the front end, except on rare occasions when that wouldn't work. I'd use those occasions as reminders to park somewhere else next time.

Someone in EU makes a conversion kit for a more traditional look, forget the name of the vendor though. Path of least resistance (and expense) is likely an EU front plate and call it a day.
EDIT: Actually think it's Prior Design, check them out not sure if planning or commercialized.

Not that it's saying much, but I do think the M4 looks better than the M440 or 430. Regarding the M4 convertible, from what I've read, it won't be available as a basic M4 with a MT option as is available with a coupe, but only as the next level up and only with xDrive and AT. Even if you could get past the esthetics, and lack of MT, the M4 is HUGE and heavy.

Not sure how much it would cost to do a bumper facelift properly with all the parking sensors and active grille baloney going on now a days. Not to mention the paint matching. Of course when there's a will there's a way, and there will be a lot people looking for their fix.. hopefully for everyone else that has to look at it's sake.

At what point, if ever, does BMW turn tail, admit their mistake and replace it with something non-insane themselves? I guess that'll depend on their sales numbers... |

I predict that BMW will ascertain that no turning of tail nor admission of mistakes will be warranted, nor necessary, for them to meet their sales projections. As always, stay tuned...

Just buy an Audi or Mercedes if you hate it that much.
It came as shock when I first saw it, but now I have warmed to it and actually like the look. If a person is independently wealthy and can afford to have someone to fashion a whole new front end to a brand new car...the entire idea is pretty "wacky". |

I think it is selling well, might just be because of lack of BMW inventory at dealers but the M4’s they got in blew out. The looks have grown on me, in dark colors its not bad but its still way too big so I’d never buy one. If I wanted another convertible it would be a used M235/240 manual or auto Z4 because of size.

Unfortunately you're stuck in a few different scenarios to find a convertible with a stick since BMW will no longer be offering a convertible with a manual.
1) Keep your M240. 2) Find a replacement M240 (likely will be difficult), or used F83 6MT (also rare). 3) Switch Brands to Porsche, Mazda, Ford, Chevy, etc. |
