N20 Timing and Oil Pump Chains and Guides Recommendations

Looking to have both changed on mine soon.

Can anyone recommend a particular brand other than OE or anywhere competitive for the latter.

Also, is it worth doing the VANOS pulleys, engine is on 95k miles.

Thanks

I recommend replacing the oil pump if you're doing the chains. I've replaced several of these pumps for low pressure concerns. Camshaft actuator isn't a bad idea but I have not had to replace one that has failed for any reason other than shit maintenance. EDIT: alot of people mix up the camshaft actuator (the chain sprocket + adjuster mechanism) and the camshaft actuator solenoid (the oil control valve). I'm referring to the sprocket here.

Just use OEM. The savings on the parts is relatively minor and far outweighed by the potential downsides in my opinion.

Ok, thank you.

Can you recommend anywhere in particular for competitive pricing / good service on OEM parts?

Thank you once again 🙂
