thank you for the post. your post was helpful over the weekend. I used the pin from an old O2 sensor harness to work for tapping the backside of the harness. I tied them into the V1 hardwire kit (came with the V1) and used a posi-tap to ground. Worked great, got the Bluetooth adaptor and splitter to fit in at the mirror. I may get the Blend mount at some point. looking for alternatives due to the price. thanks again

Does the mirrortap turn off with the car? I'm coming from a VW and the mirrortaps if tapped incorrectly can remain on when the car is turned off and drain the battery. Also, does it fade when placed in reverse?

So, this won't work on cars lacking the auto-dimming mirror then?

If you have the rain sensing wipers, you can tap that instead.

I ordered "Radar Mount Mirror Wire Power Cord for Escort Radar Detectors With Inline Fuse RJ11 (3005201)" from Amazon because it was cheaper and it taps into the rain sensing wipers!

Anyone bought a tap recently? Looks like they updated their product -- It doesn't look like you get a .080" tap end so does anyone know if this works (maybe the .075")? And is the 10" length sufficient or is the 15" better (original was 12")?

The original tap link now takes me here once I click buy: https://store.blendmount.com/mirrort...aps-p3513.aspx

Thinking about finally biting the bullet on an Escort. Is the best way to tap into the rain sensor harness using Posi-Tap connectors? Or do you guys recommend using the proper pin out ? I'm a rookie with this stuff so be easy, but I'd prefer to DIY than pay to have it done.. Cheers,

D

I've only heard positive reviews and now years later after install i have had zero issue with the setup and use it every day. I don't think you'll regret it.

looks great! only thing i would do is route the wire from the front of the mirror cover so it's not sticking out the side...but that's just plain old OCD me!
