I'm glad I went with MP back in March. It's been great.
Who's mp
Mission Performance
Thanks. How are you liking the tune so far?
What's cold start delete?
I love the tune. I only can speak to my experience, though.

I started in this order:
VR Tuning (piggyback)
Dinan Stage 1 (piggyback)
JB4
Mission Performance Stage 2 with trans flash

Now BotMod3 is out and I hear great things about their Stage 2. There's a bit more flexibility with theirs versus the MP tune, but appears to have equal power gains.

Cold start the high RPM at startup. It lasts about 15 seconds or so. With my exhaust it was so obnoxiously loud! Cold start delete drops the RPM back to idle immediately after startup.

Here's a clip of my car with the cold start delete.

Oh yeah yeah my cla45 does that. Wait why do you need 2 piggy backs? That sounds redundant.
I've had terrible tuning experience with apr back when I had my Audi so I'm very cautious about warranty so that's why I'm patiently waiting for dinan.
What happened with APR? I ran it flawlessly on a GLI then B8 S4. Curious
APR tune? I'm not familiar with that one and not sure they tune BMW.
Over the last week I've been dying to try BM3. They have a few OTS maps I'd like to try.
Apologies. I meant to reply to lixiang

I wasn't waiting any longer so a month my ip birthday wishes tneb ago I got the MP tune.
Someone here (don't recall who) said Dinan or a retailer or ??? had told him early 2020. The reason was that Dinan is focused on the S58.

With #S55 flashes dropping next week our calibration efforts have been focused on finishing out the #N55 flash catalog thereafter. Don’t worry, B series engines aren’t being ignored. A separate team is tirelessly working on those as well.

Context is important.

N55 is more of a filler really. We didn't plan on going back and doing the F chassis N55 at all, but since we were beginning the new flash tuning protocols with the S55 the vast majority of the work was already done for the engine. As a result, we opted to just do it. While software worked on things to allow calibration to do their job on more current platforms (B series engines namely), calibration started knocking out callibrations of various boxcode variants on the N55 in the interim. Idle hands and all that.

Should we infer from this that the S58 will be the priority and will be done before the B58?

I would imagine they would be released at the same time or at worst, very close to one another.

I sent in an email a while back, but didn't receive a response - perhaps you can help.

Do you know if there will be an upgrade path from the DINANTRONICS Elite V2 for the BMW B58 (D440-0122) to the flash tune? I bought and installed the Elite V2 recently and also have a Dinan Carbon Fiber Cold Air Intake for BMW F22 (D760-0046) that I'm about to install.

My hope is that you're going to produce a downpipe and a tune that can take advantage of it as well as the CAI, and that I can upgrade to that tune at a reasonable price. Any info would be much appreciated!

Dinan will not produce a DP. Our product line is aimed at being 100% emissions legal. As far as an upgrade path -- while it hasn't been directly discussed for B58 I would imagine there would be an upgrade path similar to that which we are doing with the S55 flashes that released today.

Ok, thanks. The application guide on your site doesn't list the 2020's so I thought there may have been a problem using the Elite

Currently undergoing a massive website overhaul (moving to a completely new website) which we were hoping to launch before black friday but I don't see that happening to that timetable unfortunately. Needless to say maintenance on the existing one is a bit "lacking". =)

Thanks for the info re: a DP.

Do you have an idea as to what benefit the flash tune is likely to offer over the Elite V2 in terms of reliability, performance, and efficiency?

Removed governor, more fluid power delivery and for longer, more power in general. Will control more then the V2 so will be more reliable / complete.

I'm having a .v2 Stage 1 installed in place of the .v1 Stage 1 due to CEL's on my 2017 M240i. I also have the Dinan CF intake installed.

I understand (and the dyno numbers bear this out) that the .v2 is milder compared to the .v1 especially when it comes to torque.

Will B58 flash tune restore or surpass the .v1 performance numbers?

Additionally, what other Dinan items will be required to qualify for the flash tune?

Thanks - so It will also probably be better than my v1. Good to know. Will previous adopters of the v1 / v2 - be given any kind of discount?

Honestly couldn't say about the numbers as I have gotten zero data but I think its safe to say it would be on par or better than V1. No additional requirements.

While it hasn't been explicitly talked about for the B58 platform I would imagine a similar upgrade / trade-in path as the S55 will be offered as noted in previous posts.

I was at my BMW/Dinan dealer today to order an Elite V2 for my 2020 M240Xi.
The dealer contacted Dinan customer service to find out the estimated installation time. When the rep was told the Elite was for a 2020 M240 he indicated the Elite had not been validated and as I understood it the new flash programming would be the applicable tuning upgrade not the Elite when released.

I was under the impression from the response I received the other day that the Elite can be used so needless to say I'm a bit confused and would appreciate some clarification.

Thanks!
John

Installation time is 1 hour. D440-0122 will work on the 2020 M240 xDrive. There were no powertrain changes from the 2019 to the 2020 MY.

Depending on where the dealer was routed (there are now multiple call centers amongst the greater group of companies in the portfolio) they may have talked to someone that is not entirely familiar with the product line or their familiarity is limited to what they read in black and white on the website. The best source of information for the dealer will always be to contact their internal account rep directly.
