Why does 218i engine on convertible have such a bad WLTP rating
Hi,
I just got a new 218i Convertible and got stung for a extra £660 when collecting it. The co2 value has gone from 143 to 185. Its worse than the 220i engine. On the Coupe, it’s only 145 and a 318i is even lower!! I thought this is meant to be an entry level engine but not with those values. If anyone else out there is looking to pick up a new car, be aware. If I had got it at the expected date of 30th March I would have been ok. No one had mentioned this at the dealership so wasn’t impressed. Richard |

Could be a function of moving from the NEDC test to the WLTP. It's my understanding that the measured co2 is generally higher for the latter.
The pessimistic side of me things countries will keep moving the goal posts on this to bleed their subjects dry or force them to transition to alternate forms of transportation. |

Yep, it is the move from NEDC to WLTP that has caused the increase. What I don’t get is the disparity between the different models/styles that have the 1.5l engine.

Could it be related to when the testing occurred? Perhaps the 218i is based on the WLTP where the 220i and other models have not been updated yet?
Just guessing, since I agree that it doesn't make much sense. |
