Floating Wheel Hubs

Does anybody know the diameter of the floating wheel hubs I need for my car. It's fitted with 18" wheels but I can't remember the style code.

Think they're 385's

36122455269 = larger cap - 72.6 mm: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/partxref?q=36122455269

36122455268 = smaller cap - 56 mm: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/partxref?q=36122455268

You'll probably need the larger caps, but measure to be certain. Good luck!

Yes, F22 uses the 72.6mm centre hole that the 5x120mm bolt pattern wheels use. Only the latest vehicles (such as the G20) use 5x112 bolt pattern wheels with 56mm centre bore. Any aftermarket wheels may also not be 72.6 centre bore, usually given away by the need for a hubcentric ring.

Looking across the internet everything seems to be advertised as 68mm.

Is this to fit the 72.6 you mention?

@Middy200 Just some feedback: I got these for my M235i when they first came out and they've stood up well - there was some suggestion that they'd tend to get clogged by dust and dirt, but that hasn't happened to me, even with them being through snow and slush in the winter. They also get swapped twice a year when I do the winter/summer change-over.

FYI I'm also having the 'LED luggage compartment light' Part No. 63312348803 fitted when the MoT and Service is done this week. You've probably already noticed how feeble the boot interior light is and this should help.

I can't say as I've ever noticed the brightness of the boot light or lack of it. I'm a real low mileage user and probably access the boot only a few times a year.
I did order some springs to make it auto opening though.
I'm quite tempted with a set of non OEM LED floating hubs. Can't decide if they slip into the 'tacky category though.

"compatible with 72.6mm centrebore wheels" is what you need. If you buy part number 36122455269, they will fit.

Me too. I almost ordered some [of the motion-powered LED roundels], just to see what the antithesis of the discreet floating roundels looked like.

In the end, I decided against, partly because they do seem a bit tacky and partly because I wasn't sure about their legality: I could imagine a motorway cop car pulling me over because other drivers were being distracted.

None of the aftermarket ones state they are compatible with 72.6. They just say 68mm.

I wonder if this is the width of the logo and the remaining 4.6mm is the edge whereas BMW specify the actual full width?

The BMW ones are guaranteed to fit, aftermarket may or may not. The logo is smaller than 72.6mm, but it is the fitting to the ridge in the wheel centrebore that is the important bit, it is around 68mm, but the fingers have to expand more than that to hold the cap in place.

72.6 seems to be pretty much standard across the board for BMW. On that basis I'm guessing 68mm is the aftermarket standard size to fit. I can't imagine the market is full of products that don't actually fit.

I'll take the plunge.

BMW part # 36136783536 is the original non-fancy wheel center cap. I see it on ECS Tuning, eBay & Amazon referred to as 68mm.
