Catless DP and BM3 (with Dinan CAI and MPE)

Pretty much a share post.

Last night: I flashed the BM3 Stage 1 93 map. I couldn't believe the difference. I've had a reputable stage 1 on a car before, but this is bonkers in comparison.

Today: Installed the VRSF Catless downpipe and flashed the BM3 Stage 2 93 map.

Holy balls. Seriously. A tune really does bring out the spirit of the B58. I can't put into words what a different car this has become. That torque... It just open-palm slaps the piss out of you. I love it.
Comfort mode with a catless option does not sound catless. That's wild.
Sport mode opens the sound a couple notches.. and with power.
Sport+ offers the balls-to-the-wall sound and performance.
Both Sport modes ultimately are on a whole new planet from the stock tune.

The downpipe was a pain in the ass. Not a "throw your wrench" job, but it was annoying. I did it alone, should have had a friend for minimal support. I didn't use a pipe expander, but probably could have done that and saved mallet swings and energy. O2 sensors.... thought I knew, broke one but the other came off 100%. I have the front lip so jacking it up was also a pain, but I have my system down (dont ask, I have no pics and use extra security thanks to a military injury). Also, on re-installation, my Dinan air box clips kept falling out LOL. Ended up taking half the damn lower engine cover off so I could find them. Eh. All's well that ends well.

Shout out to BM3 for making a great OTS selection, but top hat off for the options such as OE burble setting (aka settings if you hate it like me or crazy settings for those who love it), the thermostat value change, and the no cold start setting (among all the others). I am just blown away. I know that there are other tuner platforms and I can't say anything in comparison, but BM3 is exceeding my expectations.. especially for the price.

Also shout out to mike@x-ph.com for a deal and B58togo for answering some questions about....

....E30...
Coming in a week or two. To be honest, I am not sure I am ready for that yet. Finally got used to the IN YOUR FACE QUICK that was stock. Gotta get used to the POW! BYE BYE power that is a stage 2 B58.
God I love my BMW.

Sounds awesome. Let us know if you get a chance to run it through the 1/4 mile and compare to your previous attempts. I bet you'll be in the high 11's for sure.

I feel like eliminating the COVID virus myself just so I can go back to the track.
But seriously, will definitely report back with the stats.
I might even do a Stage 1 vs Stage 2 vs Stage 2 E30 time comparison.

Did you do a Tranny tune as well? If so, let us know the difference in feel or if not, any plans for that?

Planning to get the xHP flashtool in the next month or two... depending on how this virus sh** is. I want to try the xDelete as well. Will def report back when it goes down. Would love to hit the track with the current setup, use the E30 map, and use the trans tune. HOPEFULLY ONE DAY
