New To Coding

Good Evening Everyone,

Ended up picking up my first BMW the other week before getting stationed in Great Lakes as my next duty station. I got a 2017 440i M Sport and was wanting to get some coding done (change to ID6 lite, auto fold mirrors, get rid of warnings at start, seat belt gong, and whatever else you think is worth coding out). I know I can order the ODB2 Bluetooth adapter and buy BIMMERCODE App or get the E Sys with the cable(to be honest that stuff is pretty confusing with the two launchers and everything so I am not too sure about it) but if someone is local with the stuff and could help me out it would be great to save a few bucks for some other mods I have planned. Just new to everything. Also wouldn't mind getting to know the locals incase I need help in the future with any kind of mods. Hope everyone is staying safe out there! Appreciate any help I can get.

-Bryan

I'd suggest getting your own OBD2 adapter + Bimmercode app. Because sometimes you wanna go back and revert the things that you changed. At first I thought I wouldn't , but trust me, you will want to change things later when you find new things that worth the change or things that you did not like. If you don't own your own kit, you will have to go to whoever coded it for you again and again (probably pay again), or give up already.

Bimmercode app is pretty easy to use and there are tons of youtube videos out there explaining in detail.

New to Coding

I am a new owner (2020 240), and had no familiarity with coding. Bought the Veepeak OBDCheck BLE+ and Bimmercode. Have made several changes that make the car "mine", and noticeably increase my enjoyment. What a great, easy to use toolkit. Worth every penny.

Also, FYI, you're in the F2x 2-series forum. There is a 3- & 4-series forum for F3x cars, where you're likely to find more relevant info for feature coding.

Regarding coding itself, I use Carly for BMW with an Android tablet with good results on both my F80 M3 and F23 228i convertible.

Hi I am awaiting delivery of my 240 convertible which is a 2019 plate. What changes were you able to make with the kit you bought. Thanks

There is a long list of what you can do with Bimmercode or other similar apps. I have only done a handful so far:

- mirrors fold upon locking the car
- turned off ASD (Active Sound Design)
- turned off warning chime upon engine start
- turned off driver seat belt warning
- changed HK stereo EQ setting

If you download the app for free, you can see all of the things you can do. You have to pay the $40(US), to actually use it. Any one of the above was worth it, to me. Cheers!

Hi i have a 2019 M240i convertible which is a recent purchase. i got the bimmercode app to try to get my electric mirrors to fold when locking and unlocking. the app says they are active but they are not working. They did work once when i tried it but wont do it again. i have tried to disable remote lock/fold and then activated it again any help would be great thanks.

Probably not holding down the button/leaving your finger on the handle long enough. There is a few second delay to get them to fold in otherwise its just a normal lock. This delay can also be adjusted in the bimmercode app as well if im not mistaken.

Another Possibility

I have learned that the mirrors fold when I lock the car via the handle. Doesn't work when using the fob.

There are two separate settings in bimmercode. One for comfort access and one for key fob.

The mirrors fold in with locking sometimes but very hit and miss. Anyone know where sensor is that picks up the signal from the remote.
