Good roads in Houston for breaking in a 235?

Just wondering if any Houstonians here knew of any good roads in or around the Houston area to push the car a bit. Not going over the speed limit, of course.

I'm not sure of local roads in Houston with the ongoing construction in the North, South, East and the West areas of Houston all at the same time. Daily traffic seven days a week should be illegal and is utterly ridiculous but unfortunately has become the norm.

There are plenty of good driving back roads up north in Montgomery County, mindful of the local authorities, use radar. After break in period I plan on going up to Odessa for a weekend. 80 MPH speed limits in very rural areas with few to none highway patrol(mostly none)! I look forward to hitting triple digits on desolate roads <- me with hands on the wheel, take note of the facial expression!

EDIT: With a posted 80 MPH speed limit, if one were to be clocked at say 90-100 MPH, it would be no big deal "round these parts". Yeah you read that correctly, LOL! But seriously you may get pulled over but no ticket. I've yet to see a state trooper or highway patrol doing radar on the highways through Odessa.

One can only go so fast on a track and still not be able to come close to their cars top speed. That's only if one desired to do so. I desire to do so, that's the point. Unfortunately I don't have access to an airfield and I definetely wouldn't attempt reaching my cars top speed in a city setting. It may seem boring to some even pointless but I've enjoyed taking my previous sports cars to their top speed, 370Z, 350Z x's2, C6 Corvette and etc. It was fun, not to mention being able to talk about the experience. Many people speak on the top speed of their cars but have never and will never experience it.

I'd do the twisty's up in Montgomery, then keep going north till you hit the roads 1ChrisRuck is talking about after break-in. Make a weekend out of it, drive up to Austin or San Antonio

Count me in!
The Hwy 290 drive from Houston to Austin is a fun drive. Be careful of state troopers on this route. They're hip to this route being the desired route for car club convoys traveling to and from Austin. I don't remeber the name of the town but there is one stoplight town that is notorious for enforcing their antiquated speed limit of 25 - 30 MPH or something like that. When you travel this route, you must go through this town but it's like a mile or two at the most. Just slow down. They will ticket you for 1 MPH over the limit. Aside from that it's a nice drive, beautiful scenery with twisties and hills.

It's not pointless driving 80mph but it is to be pleased of the car as it's has more to it than straight boring freeways and America has some great secondary roads. I have driven many on my trips to the States usually in a rented Mustang convertible which is not the best cornering car but as good as any American cars.
I enjoy corners and this shows up great cars like BMW is and seeing these roads posted is more fun and the cars on them.

This is where a 116i M Sport out preforms higher performance cars and has helped me on tight racing tracks. It will be interesting how my future 220i preforms.

Hi
If you live in Houston area. Take Bwy 8 to 290 West, look for Buc'Eee. Ignore the first one. The second one on 290 has a secret route behind it. Sure you will love that road, twist and beautiful view if you go further .

I ride my bike near Richards, on 3090. Its a three or four mile stretch with some nice turns, I don't know if I would push my car there though there are a lot of motorcyclists and its a narrow two lane road, but its the only twisty road around.

Talking It's about time

Who's driving what and where? It's time to meet some fellow Houston area 2'ers. Let's plan on meeting up for a 2 Series lunch/meet

My car won't be in until some time next month, but Coffee & Cars is returning to Vintage Park this month. Next Saturday actually, April 18th. So maybe we can plan to meet out there.... just a suggestion, even though i'll be M235i-less
