Where to install rear dash-cam in the vert

Just payed a deposit on a 230 vert for the wife and picking up in a few days.
I have the BlackVue DR750S-2CH in my M3 and went to order the same for the 230, but then started to wonder where to install the rear camera.
Has anyone done this?

Rear camera in a convertible? Could mount it next to the rear view mirror and have it facing towards the back of the car.. Thats what I did once. Othen then that could run the wire from where the reverse camera is just above the number plate and mount it there though then you'll need to make sure its water sealed and all that jazz.

How about the OEM location?

You can get the OEM ones off ebay or this site is one of many third party systems.

Would be very interesting to see if you could get that to actually function like a dash cam - the rear camera is to my understanding at least pretty dumb and just does a live feed when told to do so. You'd need some record capability.

Yea, that model just has a cheap camera with an S video output. Getting the camera out of the BlackVue and putting in in the OEM spot would be doable, but probably beyond the average DIYer.

For those not running rear head rests - which I imagine is pretty much everyone...

Probably would not be too hard to use one of the empty holes as a mount. My car for instance, I have plugs in there to cover the holes. You'd have to play with the height but I don't think it would be any more complicated than getting a plug or perhaps a plastic rod the right diameter.

That looks great! Where did you wire in the power connector?

Sorry for not responding sooner, haven't been on the forum for a while.
I ran the power cable to the boot (trunk) and connected it to a CELLINK-B batter pack which was wired into the fuse box.
