B58 JB4 Map 2
http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31429
Any b58 people running the new jb4 map? Wondering how much of a difference it feels compared to map 1. Gonna be pulling the trigger on the combo from Mike at x-ph here shortly. |

Dirtyboy on here gave me a contact in my area to try and locate an AWD dyno so I can hopefully do a before and after. Being xDrive I'm not expecting the 380-390 whp that it looks like the rwd models are making, but we'll see. |

I didn't get a chance to put the downpipe on because while I was removing the factory downpipe, I noticed an oil leak so I put the car back to stock.
I did have the CAI and the JB4 installed before I found the leak though and it is seriously night and day performance wise with the JB4. The CAI make more turbo noise and very slight bov noise. The JB4 made the whistle and bov noises much more noticeable, specially under WOT. I miss the mods on the car. Can't wait to get them back on once the leak is fixed. |

Here in UK, many Mx40i owners are seeing 350-380bhp and high 300's lbft at the crank on a dyno pull.
Makes me think that Mx40i has B58 MPPSK tune from the factory - shame they don't so an F2x B58 of the MPPSK exhaust to go with it.... JB4 on a standard M140i - 8ZF running Tesco 99 fuel. Standard times [map 0 or map 4] 60-100mph - 5.2 seconds 100-200 - 10.6 seconds JB4 map 2 60-100 - 4.2 seconds 100-200 8.1 - vbox chart below......

There’s many factors that come into play when do acceleration times unfortunately. A 100-200km pull difference could be associated with shift times (up or down), fuel quality (not all 98 Ron is manufactured the same), altitude, etc. not knowing if the other guy is rwd or xdrive, it could also be drivetrain loss that is costing you the ~1 second difference.

Bottom line is this, being AWD you will launch better, but top end you won’t perform equally to a rwd vehicle with every other factor being the same (mods, fuel, altitude, etc.)
If you wanna see your car shine, take it to a drag strip. Map5, DS-1 sport DP, BMS intake, Remus exhaust and I ran 7.76 seconds at 88.9 mph in the 1/8th mile. Puts me high 11s/low 12s. I was beating out zo6 corvettes in the 1/8th because they couldn’t launch as well as the xDrive. |

HELP! I've been running the jb4 about a month now between Map2 (93/10%) and Map3 (90/100mix). Was loving every minute of it until recently.
I'm currently running 93/10%eth on Map2 but the past 2 weeks its cutting out WOT. At first, I thought it might have been wet from washing the car, because I lost wheel connection. I took it out, checked all wiring, relocated the box to make sure the wires weren't taught. I plugged everything back in. it worked for my drive into work and when I left work, it worked for the first 5 minutes and stopped working. it bogged out a little WOT and the boost gauge on the tack wasn't doing anything. I can still flip through the maps, I pull it back to Map1 and still nothing. Any ideas would be very helpful.

Any thoughts? Is it possible to still be fuel related? I am running Mobile Synergy 93 octane. when it was first installed I was running 90 pure octane, no ethanol. And when I was at half take, I threw in 100 octane. I would love to run this but at $10 a gallon....I think I might have to pass.

My guess would be a bad JB4 unit. Best way to check is remove it and then do some WOT pulls and see how the car reacts. If it’s fine without the JB4, then I’d suggest posting to the N54 forums for the JB4 and seeing what Terry recommends. He’ll ask for a log pull in 3rd gear starting at 2k rpm up to redline so maybe do that before removing just to see. You’ll push 100mph easy during that log so make sure it’s a wide open back road.
