I have a 2015 228i without the technology package, and am using on old iPhone 4S via a USB cable to store music. I can use the iDrive controller to select albums, artists, etc. just fine. I can also see podcasts and select them. However, the podcasts will not play. Instead, whatever is the first music album on the iPhone plays. I tried changing the file type on the podcasts from “podcast” to “music” via iTunes. Same issue. The only thing I can see that’s different is that the music files are AAC while the podcast files are mp3. So…does the audio system not recognize mp3’s??? Or is this an issue with working well with the iPhone? Thanks.

In case anyone ever has a similar issue…a newer iOS device solved the issue.
