I'm going to make a stink with BMW Canada. There's no way I would have bought a car with the A/S if I thought it would be an issue. I want them to swap my rears for 8's. Nothing online states that we would get 7.5's all the way around. I already bought the staggered tires, they're sitting in my basement waiting for the weather to warm up.

I'm not happy either, I figured I could buy the staggered summers and remove the A/S tires. Not sure if i'm just going to get same size summer all around or buy different rims.

So what exactly is the verdict?

Do cars with all seasons have a narrower rim??

We need someone who has summer staggered tires to measure their rims to see if the rears are wider or the same as the fronts like we have.

They already did that, it appears the rears on the summers are a 1/2 inch wider.

Really??? That really ticks me off.

Kinda feel like BMW should have noted that a staggered set up on cars ordered with AS's wasn't possible.

No!??

I can confirm they are 7.5" on the back.

The A/S tires come with 7.5 inch rears. This can be confirmed on page 3 and 10 of the attached spec, supplied by BMW USA.

I also ordered A/S tires, and was very disappointed to learn that they come with smaller rear wheels too late to change my order. I was especially disappointed because I asked the salesperson if there was a difference in the wheel specs, and he told me they were the same.

My hope now is to find a reasonably priced set of aftermarket wheels for summer tires. Or that somebody local has a set of staggered OEM wheels they want to sell me.

If I found myself stuck with four 7.5" wheels, I'd use them for snow tires and buy other rims (definitely wider than 8" in rear, with careful attention to offsets) for summer/track tires...

I'm trying to get BMW Canada to swap mine, it was never apparent in any of the info I received and online shows staggered setup. Why should I shell out for something that wasn't properly disclosed?

I just ordered summer tires same size all around as these A/S tires in Florida are useless. I am still upset that the dealer would order A/S for a car that would be used in FL. Hopefully down the road I will get new rims when more choices come available.

I'm trying to decide between an 228 M Sport and 235. In either case, I'm leaning towards the A/S tires which, thanks to this thread, I know will give me the 7.5" square wheels. My thinking is this would make it easier to find proper tires (blizzaks) for the winter when necessary. I don't think the M Sport or 235 wheels are particularly appealing, I'm hoping to find something aftermarket for the summer and pair those with a set of PSS, but I'm still looking. What else am I losing besides the top speed limiter going the A/S route? Does this make sense to anyone else?

Swapping tires on and off is not the best idea, and if you are getting winter tires anyway why on earth would you get run flat all seasons? You're much better off getting summer tires and then winter rims and tires. If you're 100% sure you will replace the stock rims anyway won't you end up using those for winter and still not like them half the time, and have a set of brand new tires that are going to sit in your garage?

I meant I would put the winter tires on to the stock 7.5" wheels and keep them on as my winter setup then new AM wheels and tires for summer, but yes, I would be eating a set of whatever I got on the stock wheels.

Understood, but you'd still have rims you don't like half the time right? Winter probably more palatable than summer but still. Check some of the threads on busted wheels if the stock 235 rim is indeed fragile maybe not the best for winter rim.

In any case check w your dealer they'll sometimes be able to swap you out into something else before delivery.

Making any progress on this front? I'm in the same boat.
