The dealer let me know they replaced my Com Box to fix the SOS malfunction. They want to keep my car for a few days to try to recreate the intermittent clanky sound when opening the doors. At least every time my car goes to the shop they give me a 3 series to drive. I have to give them credit they have been very good showing concern and working on the car. I just need them to figure out this intermittent problem now. I assume the com box replacement will fix the connectivity issues.

First problem a very intermittant dry pump clanking sound that lasts for 30 seconds after you open the door. They replaced the valvetronic stepper motor, valvetronic computer, and ECU, but the problem still happens once or twice a week. Then now I have a SOS Call failure/malfunction warning on my dash every time I start the car. Also my BMW Remote app no longer is able to send commands such as "Ventilate" or "Sound the Horn" to the car. It used to work. I'm am now waiting to see what they say. The first thing they asked is if I plugged anything in the ODB2 port. I said I have only had the car at home for 2 weeks. No I have not. Sheesh.

I really want to love this car, but it is really hard to right now

For the SOS Call failure warning, they replaced the "Comm" unit. It was dropping into transport mode, and they determined that it was defective. The lead tech took an hour to go over all the tests they did on my car and ask me questions. He also listened to my theories and discussed them. I felt in the loop and part of the troubleshooting team. When I picked up the car, the Service Advisor was there to greet me and go over the paper work, and the Lead tech stopped over to introduce himself and let me know I can call him direct or email him direct when ever I have any questions. This BMW dealer has been very responsive and has given me confidence even though I had some bad reliability luck with my new purchase.

Oh, and they did an oil change for me on the house, because I expressed concern about waiting 10k miles before an oil change. I had about 1100 miles on the car.

Took delivery in mid Feb 2015. My 2015 m235i Alpine white Vert has been virtually trouble free. Will be taking it in for the 10k service within 3-4 weeks (yes, long commute daily).
One issue with plastic trim which came off when I kicked it getting in and out, 1 issue with my ham hock pulling up to hard on the Driver window button (it popped back into place just fine). If the seats had a ventilated option, it would be truly perfect!

228i, March 2014 build

I have a parking brake that occasionally feels like it skips gears when setting. Dealer attempted to adjust, but that did not help.

Other than that, so far no issues with the car in 10500 miles.

11 000km, took delivery in October in Germany but really started driving it in January. Not a single issue with the car itself until the alternator stopped charging the battery this week and it had to get towed. Still waiting on an update, not sure what's broken yet, but they had to "order parts".

No rattles, no minor broken things that add up. Overall I was very pleased until this, and if it ends up being minor and fixed well, quite happy.

"Serpentine belt is shredded, tension-idling pulley has come off tensioner overheated & melted, idler pulley is damaged, due to seized bearing in belt tensioner. found part of belt lodged between crank and block, crank seal damaged, difficulty removing seal, has been pushed further into the block"

The stuff that can break due to one bearing failing.

We'll see how it fares now that all that has been replaced!
