Dinan Stage 1 1/4 Mile

With Just a stage 1 -the car turned 12.17 Left Lane- with a little better track prep it will be high 11 - That is amazing as a 18 Mustang GT stock on street tires with 460 HP averages in the mid 12. I speak from experience Also this slip shows what a good reaction time will do -ie .086 tree actually beat the 11 sec car in the 1/4 - Sorry to say it was not me but the wife in the drivers seat - lol

Definitely good times. I consistently ran 12.1-12.2 with the Dinan Stage 1 and CAI. A downpipe will make about .4-.5 second difference if you choose to go that route.

Going to wait on Dinan Stage 2 - All the wife needs to do is cut 2/10 off 60 ft and she will be in the 11.6 range -

Not really sure how a DP that makes 10-15 hp knocks a half second off the quarter, but hey, it's all good.

Yeah, hard to believe, but I ran my car at the track easily over 15 runs and consistently ran 12.1-12.2. Had the DP and Dinan midpipe put on and ran the car at least another ten times...11.60s-11.70s with a few (2 or 3) 11.50s.

I would love to see the time slips before and after DP - been drag racing for many years - Mostly Mustangs and never seen 15 hp at the wheels make much more than a tenth ET - maybe much better air or a much better 60ft were the reason.

I've had the DP for over a year and tossed the slips because I have a few videos of my runs.
I'm pretty sure I read that the DP on that car with midpipe adds about 25whp. Also, the turbo spools instantly with the torque peaking at about 3,200.
I ran on a few nights and mornings when it's cool. As I look back at the videos the 11.50s and 11.60s was in December right before the track closed and it was in the upper 20s...really cold out.
But even in the seat of the pants dyno you can feel the difference.

20 degrees and a good 60ft could make the difference as even 25HP at the wheels does not give you half a second ET - also these cars are great off the line but run out of HP at the back end - out M240 has class 1/8 et in the 7 as the slip shows just need more ponies at the big end

I did notice the M240 doesn't pull as hard on the back end of the 1/4 mile. I did break into 1.6 60ft times.
Also, I noticed that some of my quicker passes the trap speed was 1-2 MPH lower than a pass that was 0.10-0.2 second quicker. Any thoughts on what that'd be?
I always run in Sport+ and Sport (auto) shift. Do you think maybe it shifts either just before or just after the finish causing the speed differences?

The lower trap speed is simply a matter of HP at the back end - with a quicker ET -
I have seen may high HP cars trap at over 120 but lousy ET due to bad 60 ft - Trap speed does not win drag racers- ET does ---so cut a good tree and good launch - that is where the fun really is - getting better at the front end - anyone with 500 hp can just point and shoot

Dead hooking off the line inhibits forward motion. In other words, excessive spinning actually creates forward momentum and you'll often see that sixty foot times and trap speed will be inversely proportional.

Thanks for the reply!
I'm familiar with how 60ft times, HP pulling on the big end, etc. I'm just curious as to why my car can run back to back different speeds/ETs.
It seems like it shifts either right before or right after the finish line. I thought maybe that had something to do with it.
I feel like the MP tunes pulls a bit harder on the upper end than my piggy backs I've had.
I'm hoping to get to the track for test and tune tomorrow evening, but it may rain.
I'll post some times if I do.

Try shifting the car manually - I prefer using the gear shift versus the paddle shifters - the peak HP is about 5600 on these cars stock maybe a higher with a tune - if you watch the rpm when it shifts in auto mode it is over 6500 so past the performance band and the torque is pretty flat after 2000 drops off at 5300 - you cannot shift faster than the auto but you may stay in the optimum power range better - plus it is more fun!!!!!

Ok...so let me just start with this...You're the man!!! lol
I came to the dragstrip Annan to passes with it it Sport+, Sport shift and ran a 12.15 and the 12.00. I was absolutely disgusted! It's 63 degrees, but damn! I can feel it pulls harder than my piggyback tunes (Dinan and JB4) but thought I at least crank off 11.70s-11.80s.
Third pass I manual shifted at 6k-6,300 and hit 11.63 @ 117.09.
There's hardly anyone here and my passes were back to back. Then, he held me and let a few bikes go, so I know there was heat soak.

Very Nice - next time try shifting a little earlier - about 5500 which will actually be about 6000 RPM counting shift lag time - and what we said about MPH not being the key is shown on this slip - That is a great 60 FT - Track must have been good.

I see you go to Cecil. Trying to get some people from my work to head down one day. Did that with an Sti I was flipping years ago with guys at work and had a blast. I wanted to run my car stock first then throw on the intake and jb4 but chances are it won't happen since I have my intake in my trunk and my jb4 is coming today. Have an appointment with the dealership Monday to replace my M performance decals on my side skirts so the parts will be going on next week. lol

olehead and greg21040 - Do you have AWD cars? Looking at those 60' times I would think so, unless you are running drag radials.

Great times BTW!
