LSD oil

Now have a BMW M Performance LSD that I will be having installed on my M240i. Two questions:

1. What is the capacity in liters/quarts for the LSD differential?

2. Recommendations on oil (manufacturer, visc, etc)?

Thanks very much.

lifetime fluid

I found this post for the M235i that suggests the LSD comes with "lifetime" fluid. The part number for the M240i is different however.

Thanks. What oil did you use for the replacement. LSD oil I assume, but was it 75-95 or 75-140? Brand?

I used the OEM BMW differential oil, I think it was 75W-85, but not sure.

Ditto, OEM fluid and changed at 25k kms.

For the MT gearbox I'll be using a Redline gear oil instead. Not changing until next winter, though..

Only thing I would caution going non-OEM on gearbox oil, it can make it tough to shift into 1st when cold.

Yea, typically the "track" duty gear oils take a while to warm up. Redline "synchromesh" (I think) is what I used in the past, never effected shifting, negatively, and if anything made the VW/Audi gearboxes much smoother..
