Let's see your meth setup...

Looking at installing meth injection and wonder what others have done on the M235i's (I've seen images of other models already). I'm curious where people are placing the pump, tank, controls, etc.

I'm curious about this as well. I'm wondering what people's impressions are regarding the aquamist vs bms kit? Also how involved is the installation, approx how many hours?

I'm interested as well. I have been following other threads that have started to help me out in getting an understanding in methanol injection in my daily driven M235i, but I'm still looking to learn more so I don't make any mistakes and go with the perfect set up, right from the start.

+1

I've asked about it and decided to get the BMS kit. I'll be using it mostly on the street so will run a 1 gallon tank and 2 CM5 nozzles.

Thank you pparana

I'm thinking in the battery compartment for the pump and the storage compartment for the tank. I'll probably drill a hole out the side in the battery compartment (looking to avoid the exhaust). If you remove the storage compartment (plastic insert) there seems to be room for the tank with easy access to fill.

Not sure how I feel about a fuel so close to the battery. I'd highly advise against that, especially in case of an accident. Although the install is very clean.

Most of our customers go with the BMS Meth kits for seamless integration with their tune (assuming JB4).

Otherwise most other kits are universal in nature. Pump, tank lines and nozzles.

Progressive controllers are not really needed on this platform but a failsafe is recommended.

If you are just spraying and praying, any kit will do the job.

Yeah it's definitely not the ideal spot by the battery, which is why I'm looking for others suggestions. Unfortunately it doesn't look like there is anyone out there willing to share their setup. Maybe the tank above the storage cubby area and the pump down in the cubby.

ill post mine later, just off to the right side, pump fits in the 2 gallon kit. Tried to get as far over to right to help w weight distribution, right side is already heavy thanks to me.

I use the luggage tie downs as well as bolted it down. But since its on track and gets lots of g's the tie downs seemed like good insurance. The small tank would require lots of filling. I usually get 2-3sessions on track per 2 gallon tank.

no issue with spot, unless your running more than 50/50.

Thanks Pparana, looking forward to seeing it. I was wondering if a 1 gallon tank would be too small to get me through a lapping session, so my back up plan is to add another 1 gallon tank. One on each side of the trunk and use a "Y" fitting to bring them together before the pump.

Most popular by far is the BMS meth kit, it is designed to work with the JB4

I did the same setup except the pump is in the cubby too. I painted the tank black (terrible job I rushed it)

I used to have mine mounted to the back of the seat. It kept it out of the way and I was able to lose a minimal amount of trunk space.

To re-fill I simply unlatched the seat like I was going to fold them down and filled up from the back seat. No exactly ideal but not too hard either.

Washer Fluid Reservoir, works great, pump is under the intake filter strapped to the fender liner. Easy out in under 1 hour if needed, everything contained up front. Low level warning comes on well before the tank runs at an "unsafe" low.

Washer fluid tank is a good Idea - but keep an eye on that level sensor.
See fair bit of Customer complaints of Washer pumps not working or Level sensors not working because of customers using High Alcohol based washer fluid such as RainX.

Yea I never use RainX stuff for that same reason. I'm a GM with a CT store so I see/hear lots of that feedback.

Only thing you SHOULD be using from a washer fluid standpoint is the cheap Blue stuff, which is essentially 40-49% meth/ rest is water and blue colorant. Been using this stuff as my meth mix for over a decade now, with great success.

IF ITS NOT BLUE, DONT USE IT. Pink, Green, Purple all have additional detergents that can muck things up. Only the blue (cheapest, usually) has no extra additives, hence the price point.

I'm looking for more tank setups in the trunk I'll probably use the 5 gallon AEM unit.
