Honestly, though, it does take a little time to get used to the red and green lines. You have to steer the car so that the green lines are where you want them to be with respect to the kerb/curb. Once you get the hang of that, all your rashes will be gone!
Thanks for that, morphomeman. We live in a world where we're expected to instantly adapt to new technology to the point where it feels like a birthright--forget the learning curve, let's just get on with it! What I need to do, besides selectively turning it off, is spend a bunch of time and repeat / rinse till I get a better feel...

I think that the camera works pretty well. What I think does not work properly is the sensor system. It starts howling like a monkey while the car is too far from the curb, but is typically silent when the wheels are about to get dinged by a curb. In addition, the passenger side view mirror tilts down when the car is in reverse, but does not also come a little closer to the car and therefore does not provide a decent view of where the curb is. My only success in overcoming this has been to set the parameters for driver position number 2 the same as for driver number 1, except that the passenger mirror is more angled toward the car. So when I am ready to park, I switch the driver position to #2.

I have had no such issues with other cars. While I dearly love my 240i, this is one of the few things I hate.

You can code the camera angle to tilt down farther, if that would help your situation

Actually, the control options for the backup camera are a bit obscure. With the ignition on and the transmission in reverse (and thus the camera image visible), pushing the controller to the left brings up three or four icons. One is for brightness, one is for contrast, one toggles the parking aid line display, and the fourth (if you have coded it) toggles between normal view and zoom/hitch view - useful if you need to see if there is something on the ground right behind you.

That indeed might be of some help, Nyorky. Can you please direct me where you found that information as I could not locate any specific reference in the BMW Owners Manual...Many thanks

You posted this just as I reponsded to Nyorky but seems to confirm that access to the options are counterintuive at best. Could you please provide the brief chain of menu selects?

It's not a readily available option within the iDrive system. You have to look into coding either via BimmerCode or Esys. There is a lot of information in the "DIY and Coding" section of the forum

So much for promise of easy operation iDrive makes for marketing purposes. Well, this may suffice for my weekend entertainment. Thanks for sharing what you could.

Search "Rearview Camera" in the manual. It just says "With the rearview camera switched on, move the controller to the left..." This works for brightness, contrast, parking aid lines as described above, also for zoom/hitch if that has been coded, and obstacle display if you have PDC. If you have Bimmercode or esys, you can fine tune the downward angle of the passenger's mirror.

I don't know if anyone had mentioned this already but apart from this car not having oil gauge the only other thing that I dislike is when I am driving highway speed (90KPH/55MPH) and turn on my windshield washer, the water escapes all over the driver side windows. It leaves the driver window really dirty.

I've had two F30's before this car and I don't remember ever having this issue with the other 2 cars.

Not sure if it is car specific or different in the M240i, but in our M240i my wife has to actually turn the heat down from position 3 after a short while. This is the first car she has done that, including the 2003 VW that had a recall on the seat heaters as they tended to get too hot and set the seats on fire . They are quite a bit hotter than the ones in our Golf R or previous 135i.

My 2008 335i definitely had hotter seats. I have a 2015 m235i.

I can't even use my heated seats they get so warm. And they do it quickly.

I use a pro clip phone mount, and a stick on magnet mount, works fantastic. Best phone solution I have had in any of my cars.

I recoded the driver's seat to 29/34/39 deg C, several deg down from stock. I left the passenger seat where it was, as the missus is somewhat less used to cold temperatures.

2 series does not have side sensors, only front and back. So I don't understand why you are expecting the sensors to warn you when you are going to hit the curb on the SIDE of the car.

Same thing happened with my E92 335i. I travel for work often and use rental cars at least twice a month and this is a common occurrence.

If you get bimmercode you can set the temp for all three positions of heating control.

The thing I hate is the way the climate control operates.

I expected that the automatic climate control would adjust functions and fan speed to maintain whatever temp I set.

In my 2018 M240 Vert, the fan speed seems to need to be adjusted manually regardless of what temp I set.

Someone please tell me I'm doing this wrong!

when you are in auto mode, the fan speed setting is actually a "do not exceed" setting. therefore you should set it to the max for what you desire. then the car will be able to adjust fan speed up to the max to reach your temperature. the red\blue dial is actually quite significant so you need to adjust that to suit you as well.
