Changing out an 6,6 to 8,8 screen in a F22

Hi all,

I'm new to the forums and trying to get my head around starting to mod. I recently got myself an F22 and love it however I would like the bigger screen size and after taking a look at the thread over here:
http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1253651
It seems very do-able. I've got a few concerns though such as:

The vehicle is still in warranty - If I change the screen has that voided it?

I'm not the most confident in pulling apart electronics especially expensive ones, is there anyone in the ACT area that might be able to assist if I can get myself on the parrt?

And is there an exact screen part I need or is the part # 65509292245 fine for my car? (F22 2015)

Cheers!

I know if you physically tamper with the screen itself, it can trigger an antitheft mode, and deletes all info and gives minimal access, like no voice acc ect.

I don't know how true in sense that is. But my IDRIVE went whacky and became very basic and limiting, and thats what BMW Techies said it was caused by.

They then had to apply to Germany head office for an activation code...?
took over a week... Very odd.

So just be sure before you go tearing stuff out.

Thanks Will, very strange that happened but will keep that in mind. Any chance you know anyone locally that has any screens?

Cheers

No Dramas mate, yes it was "strange" to say the least, whether thats what actually caused the shut down, who knows, but thats what the techies at BMW said.

Unfortunately no i dont know anyone locally with those sort of parts. It's hard enough to find basic aftermarket parts for our cars here, let alone at a reasonable price...

i did a whole 6in to 10in not retrofit on my previous F30 3 series
just make sure you disconnect the battery and you'll have no issues

upgrading from 6in to 8in, if you car is 2014+, you should just be able to upgrade the screen without upgrading the unit itself
