How do I remove the folding seat lever on the front seat?

My driver seat back cushion needs to be replaced. I have the replacement, I just need to know how to remove this piece without breaking it. Any help would be great. I'm sure it just pops off; I just need to know which direction without breaking tabs. And also how do you release that top handle? 2015 M235i Coupé.

(Also, that is not my car or photo, but it's the exact same part.)

I've never had that apart, but perhaps if you remove the hard vertical section of the seatback you'll be able to see how things are assembled. Good luck!
