Palmer Motor Sport Experience
I just got back from the track on Sunday and it was a big disappointment. My car was the slowest of them all. Even a stock Subaru WRX walk all over me.
The car is on A/S tires and it horrible with it! I wish I have gotten the RWD instead of the X Drive. This is great street car but not so much for the track. I will probably go again soon and get a set of new tires to see if this will make any differences. The A/S tires is garbage for the track. |

The track expensive changed my view on street cars vs track able cars. I went with a group of buddies and my car is supposed to be the best of them all. but it turns out very different on the track. I now understand the difference in the track vs the street. These WRX and Sti are actually very fast on the track. I have the fastest straight line car compare to my friends WRX and STI. On the track is a complete different story. My instructor can't even keep up with a novice driver with my A/S tires, that how bad it was. I think I will need to get better break pads and break fluid as well. Note: The stock WRX is on A/S Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires. Last edited by BBMMWW333; 07-13-2015 at 11:45 PM.. |

That's why I had my instructor test to drive the car. We know the tires is the main issue. but for him to have a hard time keeping up against a novice drive that is also on A/S tires in the WRX???? that's a big disappointment. Either the stock tires on my car is crap or the 4wheel drive system is not as good as the WRX.

But usually 4wd it's not the best for the track anyway unless you are talking McLaren P1 4wd |

The FRS is actually very good for that track. I am only able to use average of 40% -70% of the throttle based on the M Lap timer. The under steer is very bad with my setup. The tires screams on every turn at 40 - 50 mph. I'm not saying this is a bad car but the tire needs to go for sure. The current setup is very a good as a street car but it turns out to be a big disappointment for the track. ( I'm not trying to start a flame war here) |

Also seems to be a quite twisty track http://www.palmermotorsportspark.com...aps.aspx?Map=0 quite a few hairpins and slow corners where you can't use much horsepower... Maybe an M235x with LSD would be a different story.. Was it dry ? can you post your laptimer file ? Last edited by pikcachu; 07-14-2015 at 12:18 AM.. |

Remember guys, he is running on run flats. A very poor track tire.
But why is this posted in the NW section? |

OP: As you mentioned, there are probably a few things you need to fix.
1) Post this thread in the track section for more track-oriented feedback. 2) Flush your brake lines and use ATE 200 brake fluid. 3) Run flats are horrid, hopefully you did a good job destroying them. You should be able to find PSS sets for sale on here as one option. Other track drivers have moved to square setups on 17 or 18s, and camber plates to extend tire life. HPDEs are great events to learn more about your car and your own limits. Becoming a track rat requires forethought and planning - it can easily become an expensive hobby, albeit a fun one :P Enjoy the track and drive - nothing wrong with the car, just some minor tweaks to see some real improvements!
