Fuel Injector Cleaner on a 2019?
In light of preventive maintenance, I'm thinking of putting in Fuel injector cleaner on my 2019 M240i. Specifically Motomaster F1 extra Strenght Fuel injector cleaner, which has polyetheramine similar to Techron.
https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/m...-0380745p.html This sucker was 50% off so bought more than a few, I can use it for the family Sienna as well. Anyways wanted people's thoughts here on the product itself or any type of Fuel injector cleaner on our B58. Also I saw somewhere that for a BMW DI engine, that its pointless to use any Fuel injector cleaner, instead opt in for a fuel system cleaner such as techron? Any truth to this or are they the same? |

I disagree completely that the use of any fuel injector or fuel system cleaner is pointless on a direct injection engine. While it is true that you won't get the full effects of an intake valve cleaning because the fuel with the cleaner is not "washing" the intake valves, there is still the matter of keeping the small holes in the injectors clean as possible. Any type of fuel injector or system cleaner will only help in this regard. Using a top tier gasoline will probably keep things clean, but tossing a large bottle of Techron into the tank when filling it for a track day several times a year isn't hurting a darn thing. Even if my injectors are clean, it's just cheap maintenance.

The gist of it seems to be that it's a good idea to use the product if you're not using a Top Tier gasoline, or if you don't regularly use a TT gasoline. In that case, you're to use the product at 3,000-mile intervals (according to the directions on the back of the bottles I bought). This is a list of those gasolines: https://www.toptiergas.com/licensed-brands/ I use Top Tier gasolines exclusively and will put in a bottle of the BMW product every 5,000 miles. I figure it's cheap insurance since as owners we are the post-beta testers of the cars we buy from BMW.

Concur 100000000% with the Top Tier Gas recommendation. A couple of years ago I replaced the o-rings in the injectors in my 2001 330Ci. The business end of each injector was pristine! I use TTG exclusively.
