Previously my seat was low, the back rest was probably 120 degrees and my steering wheel was war too far.

My friend, similar height as me, was test driving my car and as soon as he sat in he was like WTF. He proceeds to help me adjust my seating position and steering wheel and WOW!!!

I feel like I drive an actual race car now. The difference is huge. Everything is in the right position, it really hugs you. The back support is more upright closer to 90 degrees. My manual heel-toe has improved substantially.

Also now I understand why there is leather padding on the side.

I feel like I went from a grand touring to a GT3!

Well I didn't know how to adjust it for a performance oriented fit. I had posture and like the other reply, possibly a bed. Lol

BMW gives you very nice directions for how to adjust the seat, not just for performance driving, but for driving in general, which should be no different.
Many people like to feel like they are in a 60's low-rider. I have no idea why.
And while you are at it, fix the mirror position too! They are probably too close in.

I found this discussion of performance driving seat position very informative. There was also something last year in this forum that was very helpful. I think it was under the discussion of the dead pedal (some call it rest pedal).

The one thing I'd add, his head restraint is set too low in all of those photos. (This is a chronic problem with almost all YouTubers, as well.) An out-of-position restraint will make the force on your neck worse should there be a G force event.

BMW tells you the center of the restraint should be even with your ears. I like VW's instructions a little better, the top of the restraint should be even with the top of your head.

Also, in my experience, the most common motor to burn out on older electric seats. I have two other BM’s that the headrest is fixed way too low. Assuming some things never change, I went with manual seats this time around lol.

Manual seats are fine if the car has only one regular driver.
We have two, one reason we would not buy any car with manual seats.
In the good old days, BMW had three stored settings! That came in handy when we had three regular drivers. Nowadays, between the two fobs, you can get four. That would have come in handy when we had four, but those days are long gone.

If he were shorter, it wouldn't be an issue. I just keep my headrest at the lowest position. Perfect!

Almost every car I get into, I have to wonder why the driver wants to admire the entire sides of the car, rather than what’s behind them.

I don't like to see the "entire side of the car" but I do like being able to barely see the edge. I believe this is still considered "wrong" but I feel it gives me a little perspective on my frame of view. I've had mirrors with minds of their own before and they rotate on their own. If I can't see at least some portion of the car in the mirror, I start to worry it is rotated wayyy too far out.

My dad was a passenger in a car that got rear ended when he was middle aged. The head rest was too low and he got whiplash when his head snapped backwards and then forwards thanks to that misplaced headrest. He still has a fucked up neck in his late 70's.

So basically something that followed him for half his life. Make sure your headrests are up high enough!

Exactly! With properly adjusted side view mirrors, you should not have any blind spots. As vehicle passes out of view of your rear view mirror, it should be entering the view of your side view mirrors, and as it leaves view of your side view mirrors, you should just be picking it up in your peripheral vision.

That's not to say you shouldn't still look over your shoulder to confirm there's nothing there before changing lanes please! But at least that should just be a quick confirmation and not a first glance to see what you've missed.
