Is the Dinan midpipe loud enough to bother neighbors in an apartment complex? |

My garage is in a strange location - there is neighbor with a bedroom directly above my garage.
Would it be a jerk move to install a Dinan midpipe on my M240i with people living around my garage?

Do you have a deleted resonator? Can you confirm no drone? Everything I've read for B58 is no drone, but the N55 guys on the F22 and F30 forums say there is some. I really really NEED to have an exhaust with no drone, because drone will totally kill a car for me.

The Dinan midpipe was my first mod. Def no drone on an m240i. If you fabricate you're current midpipe by deleting a resonator you can change the harmonics of the exhaust and possibly create drone. Not saying it'll def happen but just be aware it's a possibility cause your frankensteining an existing component.

If you have just a midpipe, the drone won't be too noticeable, but it's definitely there, and is exacerbated by removing the cat and muffler as well. Dinan did well for they did with the acoustics design but you cannot simply eliminate a frequency without proper baffling or an extra chamber (helmholtz/j-pipes basically)

I didn't experience drone at all. If you keep the stock exhaust on there that will baffle the sound and avoid any drone. It's when people do muffler deletes that they get terrible drone. Don't do a muffler delete

I have the m performance exhaust with dinan midpipe and it sounds amazing! favorite mod by far! however it is ridiculously loud (in a good way) on startup. in fact i live in a condo complex and one of my next door neighbors filed a complaint about it with the HOA. she is the type to complain about any noise though, but I have to admit it's pretty loud. if I were you, I would talk to the neighbor about it before you do it just to see if they would care or not. also do you leave super early in the morning or come home late at night as that might help determine how much it bothers your neighbor too.

Havent heard anyone complain about it yet. My car is definitely one of the louder in the garage though. I love it! |

Ended up just deleting the rear resonator. I think it gave perfect sound for exactly what I wanted. Not loud, just a little more grunt upon acceleration. Downshift burbles are significantly more pronounced as well.
