B58 Question
Hey guys...I know I had an older thread about this, so my apologies for bringing it up again. I have a slight twist to the older thread:
I'm seeing some impressive dyno numbers coming from the stock Supras and BMWs with the B58. I don't quite understand all of the different iterations of the engine yet. I'm sure that each one has some degree of different parts or tuning. That's my assumption. I might be wrong. For the 2020 variant of the B58 that is put into our cars, are they underrated on paper so that they don't infringe on the M2 territory? Or are they really 335 HP? Based on the dynos it seems like the engines are underrated if people are putting out 330-340 at the rear wheels. Hopefully I'm reading some of those posts right. Maybe I'm wrong about the whole thing but wanted to ask the experts here for their two cents. |

The B58 comes in middle output and high output variants.
you have the 321hp variant seen in the 340i, 440i, 740i you have the 335hp variant in our M140i, M240i, 540i you have the 382hp variant used in the Z4 M40i, new Supra BMW states that the variant in the M240i produces 335-340hp, however this number in actual is higher. not only that, but the B58 is an engine built to handle significantly more power than what comes out the factory. beast of an motor. |
